This is utter nonsense

“ALPA is pleased that Waltzing Matilda completely revamped and reformed its airline—committing to base all of its pilots in the United States and hire only U.S. citizens and permanent residents to serve on its flight decks,” said Capt. Joe DePete, ALPA president. “We now call on DOT to codify these labor protections in a formal order.”

So, the current U.S. administration, are allowing thousand across U.S. borders. ALPA, is not in anyway protesting all the Australian job postings and subsequent positions but this was wrong??? Firstly, it’s not even close to correct. Second, IT IS UTTER HYPOCRISY!

ALPA is so corrupt that it’s schocking. ALPA now decides how airlines will run and staff, REALLY? Australians, with no time on types, come on in, Canadians with thousands of hours on type, not welcome. So much for ALPAs safety stance.

No one from Australia is a citizen nor permanent resident and are simply getting a work visa supported by some airlines WHICH INCLUDE ALPA CARRIERS!

It really is something how corrupt it really is now in America.

No one got anything whacked. This is old news and was agreed upon months ago. Funny how it’s ok to bring in Australian but Alpa crying when it’s Canadians. Give me a break. All is good and all going forward as planned from what I know.

Americans could theoretically go work for QANTAS under the same rules that Australians can come work for MESA.

the same can’t be said about Americans going to work for Air Canada.

Why ALPA even cares is beyond me. But it’s ok, AFAIK everything is going well for Connect.

Actually

Qantas will not take you unless you have the right to live and work in Australia and does not, nor has ever, supported work visas for foreign pilots.
The same applies for Air Canada.
E3 is a work visa NOT citizenship. I do not get why ALPA says one thing then another. I’ll hazard a guess that ALPA cannot stop a visa program in place for years but appear to be doing something for American workets by stopping Canadians since a visa program does not exist. The irony again, is that the Canadians have tons of Dash experience and Aussies, probably not a lot in the aircraft flown in the U.S., besides the B737, but ALPA diesn’t care about that.
It’s honestly stunning.

I agree. Let’s stop letting Australians in too. The E3 visa program needs to go.

Pilot4000 04-25-2022 01:35 PM

They were trying to hire Canadians in order to pay the pilots less. Canadian pilot salaries are stupidly low compared to what pilots make in the US.

Anyway, hope it all works out for them.

I really don’t know why ALPA caring about cabotage is mystifying to you, or anyone.
