I can carry 4 flight attendants and still smoke that Honda. How many F/As does the S2000 carry? Hmmmm......

BTW, mine is still stock. When I finally get my life a bit more in order, some suspension mods are on the program. Gonna look for the Eibach Pro Kit and some real summer tires to replace the pansy 'all-season' tires on there now.

The 2.0 liter turbo is a sweetie of a motor. But the stock rubber is lacking.

BTW, I lived in Europe for almost 15 years and drove many sweet, sweet German cars. I am biased! :D

yeah I hear ya, if I had the cash, I would throw a Comptech Supercharger on the ol' S2000, but the payments are enough to keep me occupied for now haha

Rog on the payments! It hurts.

Still, I admire the convertible. On my short list was also the Mazda MX-5. Maybe not as racy as the Honda or GTI, but still lots of fun.

But what I really shoulda done was keep my other, perfectly fine car (Pontiac Grand Prix GTP - paid for in full) and get the stylish ride I was looking at.

Ducati. When I get a garage (soon) it will have a Ducati parked in it.

yeah I have an s2000 on regional salary cant imagine what kind of debt Im going to be driving when I get a major job hahaha

saab2000 06-25-2007 05:32 PM

No more debt for me.

The GTI will have to suffice for a long time! Cars are black holes for our paychecks. I sit around on my butt way too hard to waste it on car payments. But that Ducati payment? Maybe!

I was in your same shoes. Got laid off from a King Air gig at about 1650/425. Flew a desk for 2.5 years. Decided to go back to flying for a living. I got multi and instrument recurrent and a part time job as a CFI(which I haven't flown a revenue hour with). Had my resume walked in to XJT, they didn't want to talk to me b/c I didn't have 100 hours in the last 6 months. Got turned down by AWAC at the ATL job fair. Was offered an interview with PSA, but was hired by RAH in the 170 on the spot in ATL. I also got a call from TSA and PDT in the last two weeks. All in all, it took over a month from the time I first submitted resumes to getting a job. Get recurrent and some recent multi time so that you don't have the goose egg then send them everywhere you qualify for. Get a part time CFI job. Go to a career fair and talk to them face to face. You might get overlooked in the computer b/c of your lack of recent time and flying job. The face to face is priceless. It certainly helped me.

Thanks for all the input guys...all very much appreciated! I'm basically trying to study as much as possible and prep myself to a comfortable level before sending out resumes...I obviously want to get my stuff out there ASAP, but I wouldn't wanna be caught off guard should any calls happen to come in. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions for you guys throughout the whole process...so bear with me please

I'm glad to hear we have some auto enthusiasts as well....especially some with good taste...My baby is leased and even though I love her, she's about to be turned in...so I'll let you know if my next mobile is worthy of presenting a challenge to your S2000 SAABaroowski...;)...Saab2000 isn't it fun to drive!?

MetJet,
A word of caution. There are several Regionals with NYC domiciles who would probably hire you today if you called. You may not enjoy working at them. Spend a little time and money getting current, hitting the 100ME mark, and make sure your scan is tight and you can probably get on anywhere.

ExpressJet (aka Continental Express) in EWR probably is the best place to work right now. But I hear they're sending all thier new hires to California. You could probably hold EWR in short order though.
American Eagle has a LGA domicile. I really enjoy working at Eagle. I have very few complaints about it here.
Comair has a JFK base. They're out of B'ruptcy, and didn't get raked over the coals too badly.

Other than that... you may want to avoid Colgan, Commuteair, Piedmont, and Freedom Air (part of Mesa). They all have issues that you probably would rather not deal with.

Good luck!

Exactly what Robthree said, Colgan called andemailed me for an interview and would rather not go with them when I can get on w a quality company....PM me if you have questions because I just began this process of applying and studying in the last 60 days and now have 4 interviews coming up in July :) Best of luck!

i'm agreeing with the othres as well, you've got almost enough time to go anywhere you want, so don't get screwed by going to a low-tier regional...however, this is the time to get in, so act fast, and get as much of that time as quickly as possible. I wouldn't even fool around w/ a single engine aircraft, just buy/split time in a twin and get current. If actual instrument skills are what you're looking for, try a frasca 142/132 sim, and that should get you good to go, probably be an even better pilot flying that crapola of a box around.

Another note, i'm for the VW, but i'm partial as i drive a 06' jetta...but if i could have only afforded that GTI/GLI on FO salary, or even my other love the 325i, i'd have been set...guess i'll have to upgrade to captain.
