Okay guys, we get it, the Dash can land and take off on a shorter runway than a jet. On the other hand, I bet the Dash can't do 445 KTAS at FL370. Each plane has their plusses and minuses. Can we give this crap a rest?

Relax dude their just talking. Do you have anything better to talk about?

Seems these guys are a little sad were not lining up to suck off the CRJ.

I was just saying it because I was really amazed at how well the thing stopped. A turboprop is a turboprop. 15+ feet of prop going into beta can always stop fast. But watching a jet land and stop in under 2k feet is really a brow raiser.

Landing isn't the fun part... It's the crazy descents that rock the house. 6000+ fpm anyone?

I'm getting hook on the Dash 8 stories!

So, How's the systems for the aircraft i.e, electrical, hydraulics and props? Easy to grasp or complicated animals? Does it has an autopilot, too? Let's hear it!

And any piedmont guy up there, PM me we can chat!

newgrad411 07-02-2007 03:32 PM

The systems are fairly simple with the prop being the most complicated, to me at least while I was in training.

All of our (Mesa) birds have autopilots. The airplane is very stiff legged, so you have to work very hard for a smooth (if you want to call it that) landing.

I'm finding out that other Dash operators are running theirs without APU's in them...at PDT we have APU's and I can't imagine flying all the time without it. Commutair and Mesa are going to have a hot summer

If you're so tired of hearing about the capabilities of the dash 8, may I suggest not clicking on the thread discussing dash 8s.

I'm not tired of hearing about the capabilities of the Dash 8; in fact, I readily acknowledge that there have been quite a few times I've found myself wishing for the short-field performance of it (or just about any turboprop). It just seems that we can't have a single thread on this board without it turning to a props v. jets "discussion."
