Question Interviewing with other airline while on FMLA

I'm on FMLA for a medical issue I expect to have resolved within a month. The time off has given me time to consider future options and polish my resume etc. If I were to apply and get an interview with a LCC or legacy carrier, is it okay for me to interview while on FMLA, or is there a potential for that to bite me in the ass when my potential future employer reaches out to my current one for PRIA etc?

TIA

I would have no problem with that. A medical inability to work doesn’t mean that you’re medically incapable of interviewing. It isn’t the same thing at all as TAKING a sick day to interview.

I would agree that technically there is no reason you can't interview while on FMLA.

That should not reflect via PRIA/PRD in any way I can think of.

But there is an issue of optics: I would be 100% up front about the situation with the interviewing company (no need to tell your current employer). Some airlines may take the view that since your medical is currently not valid for flight ops, you don't meet their minimums to apply. The computer or HR person who flagged you for an interview would not know that because it just sees the issue date on your 1C which you entered on the application. I'd call or email BEFORE going to the interview.

Don't be surprised if they postpone until after you're cleared to fly.

During logbook review the question may come up why you haven’t flown in months, but provided you have an open and honest answer. You should be ok.

Default FMLA

The Friday to Monday Leave of Absense Act is a great scheduling tool, huh?
