Well, I guess that would be me. Since I was hired from the left seat of a 1900....I guess that 2000 hours of T-prop PIC time has finally done something for me.
There is also 2 more 1900 guys in the class behind me.....For what its worth, I think the 1900 guys have a much easier ride in that 727 sim. I have heard that some ppl with only glass time have been having a really tough time getting that scan down. I think they also like the fact that most of the 1900 guys have good attitudes and have really had a lot of contact with the passengers. They are really trying to push the idea of treating the pax better and doing what ever it takes to do that....Regardless of what they call us or what we are paid. They are making hats and jackets mandatory with the uniform too because they want to see some respect come back to this profession. So far I agree with most of what they have had to say and have been treated very well. Almost like being a human again. |
by the way since there is a flow up to NWA, is their a flow down to compass if something bad happens and does anyone know what that is???

Based on what I have heard, flow is both ways. Compass pilots are eligible to flow up after 2 yrs as a captain. Should they choose to bypass the flow through, their seniority remains intact should NWA guys flow down. Otherwise the NWA guys go on top.
FWIW, the top 4 senior guys at the company are NWA furloughees. #5 is the first CPS manager on the list. |
Where to start?

What exactly do you think we should do? I am all for a good idea, but an attack just for the joy of it is pretty much useless. |
Flow
As far as the flow goes, we have been told 30 month on property and you must be a CA to flow up. If you choose not to flow once you can hold it then you are safe from being displaced by flowdowns should it occur.
On a side note we were also told that if you are a check airman or some other position that is needed and you are awarded the flow up but bypass at the request of the company to stay behind and finish line checks, intial classes, sims or what not then you will have an employee # on both sides NWA and CMP. This is until you are released to go over to NWA. Several of the guys in my class intend on making this a final stop and don't really care to flow to NWA. Just wanted to be based at home and on the top of the seniority list. Since our contract is not in our hands yet I can't give to many details, but I can attest to being treated 10 times better than my last job and getting 2x higher pay. So once again I say this job works better for me, maybe for some of you it doesn't, thats ok too. |
Making me feel better already dude. See you in 2 weeks. Question: Found out any of the cities that will be served yet? I've only come up with IAD, DFW, CYVR, AUS so far.. just from messing around on nwa.com. (just planning my overnight debauchery already)

I know this doesn't mean a whole lot, but do you think it is better we all walk around with our shirts hanging out, no ties, and maybe some sneakers to boot. I know it doesn't fix things, but if ppl insist on dressing unprofessional I don't see the flying public giving us much slack either. I say dressing the part is a good idea.
