Default Colgan Hiring

If I'm not mistaken, Colgan's minimums are 500/80. I have seen some gouges about pilots getting hired with well below minimums, as in 300 something total time. Are they hiring many people that are below minimums? Would you have to have an internal recomendation to get an interview with low time?

It look like SABB left his account open in the public place. This is the first time I read a post where you didn't tell someone how sh!ty Colgan is..

hahaha yea I got to stop bashing it, I dont know everybodys situation, its just ignorant for me to keep bashing them, hell I went there and got some good experience and met some great people. If it fits your lifestyle, who the hell am I to say anything. I dont think any of us will be spending our careers at a regional so between now and the call from a major, go to where you feel fits your lifestyle best.............. I do however think ALPA will be a good thing, and I encourage fellow Colgan guys to do what they can to get a good contract...........

Saab, extremely mature post for you bud.

One thing about CJC is experience...you get it. Unlike a jet, 1900's and Saabs can't go above the snowstorm, we MUST go through it to get where we're needing to go. Flying VOR approaches to mins all day long will make you a better pilot. Will it get you to FedEx any quicker? Too many RJ captains with 5000 JET Turbine PIC...we're not going anywhere. I'm from CRW, so that's why I like Colgan. I won't be going to the Q400, unless the pay significantly changes.

Little off topic.

No, you don't need a recommendation to get an interview, I'd say half of the guys in my class had less than 500 TT and just applied cold. All of my class made it through training, with the exception of one guy that never should have been hired in the first place due to a horrible attitude problem.

You're going to hear all sorts of things about Colgan, mostly negative. Some of it is legit, some of it isn't. If you want to PM me with any questions, I'd be happy to help you however I can.

I was told that Colgan is hiring street captains. Is that correct?

I was told that Colgan's pay is terrible. Is that correct? Yes.

PS- Get ALPA on property and get some acceptable rates for that 74 seater you're getting. That's an airliner.

300 is pretty common now for new hires, here and elsewhere. Think long and hard about it, and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
