It's good that you know your stuff. Good to know there are more safety-concious pilots out there. I am the same age as you and I am paying my dues as well. I was just trying to pass on my personal experience, but I guess it rubbed off a little too strong (I'm an instructor, I am a little anal 'cause I have to be). Anyways, get your stuff done ASAP, get that multi done, and make sure you get as much ME time as possible. A lot of these companies (ASA, AE, XJet...) are looking for lower time guys/gals because they know that you will be with them for a while/for a career.

I did not think you came off very harsh. It is my experience that if you give advice and it is not the advice they want to hear you are being "harsh" or "rude". These people seem to like to attack you if you do not tell them what they want to hear. This being said I would not take it to personal.

AA getting Ejets, is this to say that American Airlines, the Legacy is going to be getting Ejets, I assume, 170's or 190's and that Eagle will most likely be loosing lines and crews because AA will be taking back some of the lines RJ's were running. This I assume will bring back the 2000 AA guys on the street and potentially putting a bunch of Eagle guys out.
I am mainly asking to clarify as I have an interview scheduled thier but have been accepted with another carrier. I am wandering if I should bother to go and tempt myself if I were to be offered a position.

The reason these companies LOVE the low-time guys is because they can have their way with you like a prison B****. When you get on with 600TT, you feel that you've been given a gift. You will do ANYTHING and sacrifice ANYTHING to appease your benefactors...pay cuts, work rules, QOL, because they did you a favor. The regionals love low-time guys because they are, A) naiive, B) easily manipulated, and C) willing to do things even your mom won't do. The bean counters run the airlines, and all they care about is the bottom line.

All in all don't be discouraged with speed, it will take time to adjust, but basic fundimentals apply......attitude + power = performance. Just get that scan going faster.
Good luck

FLYBOY,
Yeah, so I worded it wrong. I can see your perspective about the 'prison *****.' That is why I elect to instruct, become more proficient and get the 'better job' when the time is right - if there really is such a thing...Anyway, happy flying...
By the way, how long have you been with GLA and when are you upgrading? - Just curious?

My situation is a little bit unique in that I only fly 35-40 hours per month, so upgrade for me will probably take somewhere between 1-1/2 to 2 years from the day I was hired. I have been with the company for about 8 months. And yes, people are still upgrading in less than a year in some instances.

Ummm, AE interviewed 100TTers? Gees, maybe they got grilled on 'IFR Stuff" because they have never been in actual IMC. What was your TT when you interviewed, if you don't mind me asking.

That's my two cents.
