In fact I am gearing up to leave the office world, 60k/yr, 3 or 4 days off a week, full benefits and 401k/pension to pursue a flying career I started while in college. Office life sux. Unless you are truly self-employed you will always be working for someone else who is making money off of you.
Your boss will always make bad decisions and the pay will always suck.

Its a decision of where you want your office, in a cube with no view and 50 other people or at FL350 and the best view in the world??? I choose the latter.

nothings different in the airlines either. someday I hope my pay check doesn't suck...

I manage to function well enough in my particular corporation, but have to play the "brilliant, slightly flaky engineer" a bit in order to make it work. There is a price to be paid if you want to be on an office staff and still have a pulse.

SkyHigh

Does everyone else on this forum think that flying a plane is the same as being in a cubicle? Maybe riding in a ferrari is a cubicle also or maybe skyhigh is way out in left field with that comment.

Been in the cockpit is no comparison to been in an office. I worked in an office for 15+ years and was miserable every day. Now I have been flying for 7 years and haven’t had a bad day. As far as family goes it depends on how supportive everyone is. Everyone has dreams, it’s what you make of it. I’m looking forward of starting with AWAC.

Skyhigh is just a wet blanket on EVERYTHING....take his comments with a grain of salt.
