What makes republic "top tier"?

from the "beyond payscales and guarantees" thread it appears there's no trip/duty rig or daily guarantee... so why is it up there with skywest and xjt which have those?

I'm on reserve and I have a daily guarantee of 4hrs. If they make anyone sit hot reserve you get 5hrs though that doesn't happen. The work rules are pretty good. We have the "illusion" of being protected by our union. While they have faults they do have victories as well. The company tried to bypass several people and the union took care of it. If that happened at SKW you'd be up a creek.

XJT has the same woe's we have. There are always those that like where they are and those that don't. Same here. Some people would complain if you hung them with a new rope. People who haven't ever held a real backbreaking job.

Got me stumped too. I think because some have decided that growth and upgrade time are as important as pay and work rules...even though growth and upgrade potential are moving targets whose past performance does not reflect future results. Personally, I'd rather be an FO for an extra year or 2 at a place I like working than be miserable as a captain at a place I hate. News flash folks: there are TONS of guys at the regionals running around with thousands of hours of T-PIC. And it's not because they haven't been trying to move on.

Plus some guys think they're cool if they get to fly the E170 cause it looks like a 737 that shrunk in the wash:D

But there could still theoretically be a (line not reserve)pairing that's 4 days, 2 1 hour trips flying time on each day with 6 hours of waiting in between each flight hour and the compensation is still just 8 hours over the 4 days?

HAHAHA the MIGHTY E170! Being better than Trans States does not make you top tier.

KiloAlpha 07-27-2007 02:00 PM

Don't hate, congratulate.

mking84 07-27-2007 02:08 PM

Congratulate what? Maybe Republic pilots should be celebrating the same pay for a "bigger" airplane. Top Tier........huh

KiloAlpha 07-27-2007 02:10 PM

For the sake of argument, we are the highest (or next to highest) paid 70+ seat operator aside from Horizon. On a side note, if you do decide to RSVP, I'll let you get your picture taken in the 170...

RAH 175 10 yr CA = $88/hour
AE 700 10 yr CA = $82/hour
RAH 170 10 yr CA = $80/hour
Compass 175 10 yr CA = 80/hour
SKW 700/900 10 yr CA = $78/hour
Mesa 900 10 yr CA = $78/hour

So since we don't have trip/duty rigs, we're not allowed to be top tier; I guess I'll have to cry myself to sleep again tonight. You should also know that our current pay rates were set 4 years ago when the 170s were just a twinkle in BB's eye. Hopefully the next contract will be done within a year.

Id rather have my picture taken in a "real 737"

KiloAlpha 07-27-2007 02:23 PM

As would I... so with all this high and mighty talk, who is it that you work for?
