Default moving over to XJT

So I've been with Colgan down in H-town for almost a year and I'm really thinking about moving over to XJT with in the next few months, can anyone give me what to expect on average on pay the first month (take home) and where are they sending all the new guys. I want to stay in Houston and that is the only reason I'm hesitant to make the move.

Blackbird, I hope you make the move. This is a great place to be. I had an ex-Colgan guy in my class...cool as hell! You will get a $1500 check for per diem while you are in training. On the day you pass your PC (approx. 6 weeks), you start getting reserve guarantee, which is 75 hours at ~$23. Currently, the wait for IOE is about 5 weeks so you will be paid during the wait. As far as getting Houston, it's all about timing. I got Houston right out of training because my class finished after a perm-bid where all of the bases were staffed. Therefore, everyone in my class got their 1st and 2nd choice. The west coast bases (ONT & LAX) are the most junior. If you for some reason don't get Houston out of training, it shouldn't take long to get it. Good luck with your decision!

You'll be able to get IAH within 3 months if you don't get it right off. Moving over to a first class company is the best move a regional pilot can make. I fully recommend. This is a great place to work... most everyone is fun and happy, we are on time for the most part, great mx, good upgrade. C'mon down!

Not many people actually want EWR, so my guess is you probably would get it right off the bat. However if the west coast bases are hurting that bad, they may ship an entire class out there, you never know. But that's doubtful. In my case, when I got out of initial back in november i was awarded EWR straight away.

Default Ill just post this agian.............Posted it a week ago or so

If QOL, PAY, and the ability to manipulate your schedule at the click of a button, and have a great contract, come here, if PIC Turbine is all you want, stay......... I have not looked back once since I left Colgan, I miss the guys I flew with but I have met great people here as well. Sure you "hand-Fly" the 1900 but DME-Arcs in mountainous terrian and traveling to over 152 airports will make you a better pilot than hand-flying from Altoona to Pit all day long, I promise........... At Expressjet you will see things and come across situations that you will never see at Colgan( not enough variety), a Monkey (No pun intended) could hand-fly an airplane, its the decision making, working with drift-down, and dealing with complex airports etc...that will make you a better pilot, for the month of July I will be getting paid, 131hrs all with 13 days off, I have al late shows and everytime I have an issue with my pay, I "Pay Claim" it and within 24 hrs it is approved along with a response on the computer, ist great. I will make well over $40,000.00 as a second year F/O at XJT, I dont even think Colgan Ca's m,ake that, new ones anyway. ( I fly as much as I can, finanically I have too). From the second you walk into the training center, you will begin to undertsand the difference between an airline like Colgan, and an airline like Expressjet. No changing of times, clean, reliable A/C, management that doesnt abuse you, and people that actualyl like the company, not trying to destroy it. I think about how close I would be, if not already to being a CA at Colgan, and I would do it all over agian if I had to. A few months ago I was able to have like 14 days off in a row and still manage 85 hrs of pay, all from trading bad day worse day on the computer, that is just not an option at Colgan. If you want more than just PIC come on over, I feel there is more to life than money, and I feel in the regfional world, there is more to life than PIC..............Good luck and PM me if you have any questions..............

PS I was FBO'd for today (took me off of my 7:30 dfay trip so they can do training, so I picked up a 7:50 day trip at Red-Flag rate %150 pay, do to the weatehr today we flew 10 hrs............ I was pay protected for the original trip, and I get time and half for the 10hrs, so yes thats right I got paid for 23 hrs for one day of work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine if I was a CA, thats a lot of money and thats what good work rules, and a good contract can do for you!!!!!!!!! I think this may be a record I am not sure
