Pilot Musicians
Are there any pilots out there who play the guitar? I was just wondering if anybody brings along a travel guitar, such as the Martin Backpacker, to play on the road. I figured that would be a good way to pass some time in the hotel room.

Friend of mine is obsessed with banjo. He has a Tranjo, a traveling banjo. I've heard that he plays it in the cockpit too..

I'm interested in this as well. I see guys all the time carrying guitars around, but as a commuter I don't know how to pull it off.

My brother is an airline pilot and he bought a real neat travel axe. It's a solid-body electric with a snap-on neck. It's a full scale guitar but save's a little space in body and headstock size. Looks like a full size when it's put together.
You don't take the strings off, you just undo the neck. Then it's small enough to fit in a computer bag. I've played it and it's a quality instrument. I can't think of the brand name right now. If I do, I'll re-post it. |

I'm not a guitar player, but I was singing along to Journey on the way out to BWI the other day.
Just a small town girl, livin in a lonely world! |
yeah i found that carrying a guitar around was too much of a hassel. So now when I am bored in the hotel, i sing the guitar parts out loud accompanied with some mild air guitar work, put it down on paper. And jam out when I get home!

It makes me laugh. Of course, it still pales in comparison to that Friday night down on the Landing. |
