Default What's the average age for regional new hires?

Just curious at what age most pilots get hired. I know there are cases of 19 and 20 year olds, but what would yall say the average is?

I was 24 in a much tougher market. Soon it will be 18-20 if the current trend continues.

I thought most airlines required you to be 21 before being hired? I know there are a few that hire at a lower age than that but I thought they were turboprop places like Colgan.

I agree that the requirements are allowing much younger folks in the airline cockpit. The more important question is, what is the average age of a MAJOR airline newhire and when is age 65 gonna pass?

Believe it or not in my class it was around 30. I'm 25 and was third from the bottom of 22 people.

Yea that must be nice to be hired by a regional at 21 talk about being ahead of the game. I hope I can build enough hours within the year I'm gonna be 25 next month and constantly struggling to get my credit straight and save money it just sucks big time

"They" use to require 1000+ TT and significant ME time too. It obviously fluctuates based on how desperate they are to fill classes. Age would be no different.
