Mesa and ASA???

I know this may be a dumb question....but I need to ask it since I start class at ASA on Aug. 27th. A former regional pilot told me this morning that ASA is on the chopping blocks and that Mesa would aquire them and for me to be ready to be a Mesa pilot....I have not heard this ever.... please someone tell me if they had heard this or if this is even possible?? Im sorry it "could" be possible...anything goes in this industry...just let me know your thoughts...thank you in advance...I think I threw up in my mouth when he said i could be a Mesa pilot :)

ASA is owned by SkyWest, who recently purchased them. They also make them a lot of money. I doubt SkyWest would sell them. I think you're OK :).

I was just wondering what you have against Mesa? Aren't all the regionals pretty much the same? Also, I was wondering what kind of times you got hired with?

OMG I think I just puked a little in my mouth... WWAAAYYY off base I promise.

maybeesdid, Uhhh... I don't know what planet your from but QOL, work rules, compensation these are very important things to pilots and if you even only visit the boards once in a blue moon I still think there is a thread about how Mesa is horrible.
Example (a.) http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...highlight=mesa
"Mass Pilot Exodus, Low Morale Cause Concern for Mesa Pilot Leadership"

Example (b) http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...highlight=mesa
Ellen congratulating Mesa pilots for there move. (if you read the boards you know Ellen)

Example (c)
http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...highlight=mesa
Its a locked thread but... "Mesa pilot steals an Ipod" Just the kind of people I want to work for

Example (d)
http://airlinepilotcentral.com/airli...-lcc/mesa.html
Stock not over $6 a share (I am no genius but thats low), the increase in pay from first and second year is ONE DOLLAR!!!

Hope I this helps out. I do like Mesa Pilots, I just don't like Mesa. As for ASA being bought by Mesa if that was the case I wold tie my own noose.

Holy sh*t! I came to ASA from Mesa (Air Midwest) for a reason; that place sucks! If this were to come true (and I doubt it), I would be the first to quit (and re-think my career path altogether). I have too much respect for myself and my family to stay with such a lousy outfit. Seriously, I would rather not be a pilot than work for J.O. and Mesa.

I heard it was a three way deal between mesaba asa and mesa and the airline was going to be called
Mesasaba

mohaupt, I have only been on the forum for a short time, but know my fair share about the industry. It is my opinion that QOL, work rules, and compensation suck across the board at the regionals and with that said the regionals serve only one purpose of breeding major airline pilots. If anyone actually plans to make a career at a regional I feel sorry for them. So, therefore, the only thing that matters to me when it comes to regionals is how fast I can get my time and get out. I've heard horror stories about them all. But Mesa pilots appear to be moving on to a real job just like pilots from the other regionals.
