Two very important points that I think everybody is missing here:
1) Top Gun, honestly, wasn't actually all that good.
2) Tom Cruise is a biatch. Maverick should have been the one to die.

Top Gun was awesome when I was in my teens because I thought I could someday fly F-14's and bang Kelly McGillis. Top Gun is awesome now becuase the lines are funny in their earnestness..."you are writing checks your body can't cash"...etc. I still think that Jestor is the coolest character in the movie. I used the "writing checks your body can't cash" line the other day when an actuary dweeb came into my office talking about an innovation he was thinking about with a client...so the movie is well enough known to be funny to many people.

As for hitting on hot chicks...it is only unethical if they say no or get offended...if it works then it is not unethical, but well played. As for hitting on ugly girls...it is not unethical ever.
