Ethical to hit on your (hot) female passengers?
Your input guys :D
|
I know this question won't make much sense since we're guys...but pretend your a girl.
But if you were paying someone to perform a service for you, would you want them hitting on you while doing it? |

I don't see what would be wrong with it, after the flight, as long as you used some tact and remained professional.

OMG.. this is one of the reasons Mainline pilots get pi$$ed at us regional guys. When was the last time you saw a Continental pilot or a Delta pilot or who ever try to pick up on a hot pax?
We have an image to uphold and while yes it is easy to pick up chicks while we are in uniform there is something about "company conduct" that just screams "NO!" at you. I don't know but I think no. ~m now how FA's.... :-) thats another story hehe |

Ahhhhhh yeah, well for one most of them are divorced so they were hitting on somebody other than their spouse, and second they are much older (mostly) so they would come across as pervs, and no I haven't "hit" on any pax, but I do my fair share of flirting, more times than not I get hit on by hot moms :)
With a face like your icon who wouldn't hit on you?! lol jk ~m |
Who is to say that we cannot make aquaintances in uniform. Talk about tact? Send a drink back to the person in question via FA with a name and number on the napkin. Of course you would have paid for this drink... right? This only works if your FA's, assuming you have some women, are good wingmen and say something along the lines of "He's cute, give him a call."
However mohaupt is right. You're better of leaving well enough alone. Chances are said person would be flattered, but what if they took offense. Yes the Cheif Pilot would be entertained while shaking his head at you, but why risk giving him your name? Have fun folks. |

I don't plan on having to do the carpet dance and like flybywire said its probably a sure fire way of having to talk to your CP if you **** someone off. ~m |
No women would be ****ed off, not interested but ****ed off?, because you find her attractive??????????/ Just dont go chasing her down the jetway............If they know any better, they will realize how poor we are, and theres not a chance in hell........... Unless of course you get em all liquored up at the hotel bar ;)

I would assume it would be safer to hit on the passengers (supermodels) in the terminal, rather than in the airplane?
In the business world it's easier to hit on your hot customer/coworker when you're at the bar down the street after work, than when you're in the office ;) |
Yeah i can see hittin on a chick in the terminal. But in the airplane? That'd be too weird...

I had a captain whe I was a new-hire who would watch the pax board and make notes about hot female pax on a TOLD card. Then he would rank them numerically and have the FA (starting with #1) invite them out for drinks with this CA.

If you MUST, you better be damn hot (and not just according to your mom) and be very tactful (and maybe a little humorous) about it, and definitely not in view of the public. you're in a very visible uniform for godssakes! I agree with someone up there who asked the rhetorical q up there, do u see a DAL pilot trying to pick up a pax... sure like Saab said it has to do with their age too, but mostly I think they in general do a better job in the professional behavior/image upholding department than some of us. (Personally I don't think it's professional behavior at all, but you didnt ask my opinion :p.) |

There is a dog park near my house complete with a hose for keeping dogs from humping each other while off the leash. I'm sure that your company has professional conduct rules that are intended to act as the hose.
What you can do is have COMPANY business cards printed with your contact info. Write a personal note on the back thanking a customer for their business and give them to say, all first class passengers. If there is any interest from the hotties, they'll have your number. Otherwise you've just performed some marketing that may get a customer back on your jet. Either way you don't look like a creep. |
You only look like a creep as to how you come across....
Besides...every woman loves a young pilot:p And don't you just love it when your overnighting at the same hotel as that MILF from row 1? :D |

I've told my girlfriend (early 20's) that when I do move on to a major airline that I'll likely be flying with older guys/girls. We have been together since high school so she knows how the industry works.
A few weeks ago she was waiting to get onto a US Air flight and was sitting somewhere near the gate and the crew came by and sat down next to her while waiting for the inbound aircraft. She said now she understands about having to work with older guys. She said both pilots were old and that the gray haired FO was hitting on her while she was sitting there at the gate. So, to the author of the thread, when have ethics ever had a place in aviation? |
haha I love how the original poster on this thread used the word "ethical." When it comes to ethics, all bets are off when it comes to 1) aviation and 2) making a pass at someone.
Perhaps a better medium of discussion would be the professionalism of "hitting" on a passenger. Quite frankly, I'm a little surprised that this would even come up. Common sense tells me that it's most certainly unprofessional to be making passes at your passengers (who are paying customers, trusting you -the professional- to take them safely across the skies in a thin metal tube at 75% the speed of sound). Ethical? Who cares? Professional? Absolutely not. On the other hand, if the pax makes the first move...... ;) |

My point is reference the thread title: "is it ethical to hit on (hot) female passengers?" Is it ethical to hit on any passenger while at work and wearing the company uniform? The operative word here is: Ethical So with the question being is it ethical, in my mind, no, it's not ethical. |
HSLD... is right on....
If you are not having fun....either change what you do.... or HOW you do it...life it too damn short to be doing something you dont want to do just because you feel like you have to. |
You let the hot pax invite YOU out on a date... hitting on girls is so played out... most successful tactic is to play shy and smile at them and see how they respond... works damn well and doesn't get you in trouble in a professional situation. If you feel like you've got o holla' at the shawtie, there's a problem.
