If you really want to be here, don't give up. Go to somewhere else for 6 months, then re-apply.

I might actually do that. Just going through training twice, blah.

Do they give that bonus if you have aCRJ rating or do you have to be assigned that plane at RAH to get the bonus?

I have sjs for the e170. Plus I would love to be based out of Atlanta with Shuttle

av8tr_2007 08-20-2007 03:46 AM

I don't think they even have CRJs

Rah

Just wondering what are the chances of getting based out of chicago as a brand new FO with Republic with 1000/100

cbire880 08-20-2007 06:19 PM

CHQ flys the 145 and CRJ-200
RW flys the 170
S5 flys the 170

If you want Chicago, you'll have to get hired on the S5 170. I believe ORD is fairly senior and shrinking as ATL stands up. Chances of getting hired to any certificate with 1000/100 are outstanding. Chances of getting exactly what you want are still good, but certainly not guranteed.

You do know that all FOs are paid the same regardless of equipment? Also, realize that in order to get the first available upgrade, if you hire on as a 170 FO, you will probably have to cross over to CHQ and upgrade into the 145 or CRJ. 145 and CRJ CAs can bid to the 170, so its quickly becoming senior equipment.

Unless you have a QOL reason for desiring a certain base, take the first class they offer you.

The "study guide" earlier in this thread was accurate. The questions I had on the written weren't exactly the same, but they covered the same subjects. Thanks for the help. I'll be going to school next month for the 145s. They mentioned during the interview that they're only hiring pilots to fly the CRJ-200s who already have a type rating for that aircraft. I really get the feeling that the CRJ-200s are a temporary thing with Chautauqua. New hires get type training for the E170 or ERJ-145, depending on which certificate you get hired onto. They made it pretty clear during the interview that they send new hires to whatever certificate they need pilots for at that time. I don't know if there are any other factors that weigh into that decision, but they told us not to get our hopes up for getting on a specific certificate or type. The same goes for base assignments after training. They send you where they need you, and then later once you have some seniority you can move around.

Good luck! I here the CHQ training is tough. Just ran into someone who washed out. :( Let me know how it goes.
