ASA Upgrade Times
What kind of time frame are new hires with a fair amount (650hrs) of turbine PIC upgrading? I understand being a junior ca for a while, but is ASA like Xjet where you have to wait until your number is up, or like Pinnacle where if you have X number of hours you can go ahead and bid for captain? 1st year FO pay is terrible, but I like ASA's route structure and being in ATL, and if I could upgrade in 6-8 months, I wouldn't mind the temporary lack of pay. Also, what kind of hours per month are you guys at ASA getting?
Thanks

Seniority based. I don't think they hire street captains, this isn't Mesa or GoJet.
Upgrade is looking to drop to about 2 years--at least that's the word from the hiring dept. and also from the pilots there.

Go somewhere else if you want a quick upgrade. ASA has a lot of older guys hanging around holding everyone back, and that means that you need around 5-6+ years of company seniority in order to hold a line as a captain. Also, our lines stink! The September bid had like one three day trip in the whole packet! Everyone else is stuck w/four day trips or sitting reserve with 12-13 days off for the whole month.

According to some folks there are 30 upgrades a month....hiring 40 a month (or trying to at least). Upgrade time as they are saying now is about 24-30 months. As much as ASA pilots fly......there won't be a problem with quals when the number comes....age may be an issue?!?!
