Default Transition to the CRJ from the 1900

I was just wondering what the transition is like from the Beech 1900 to the CRJ. I know a couple of people who are currently flying the 1900 and want to come to Pinnacle and are curious to find out. Has anyone done this transition recently?

Cheers

Not recently but I went from Beech FO to CRJ FO back in the day. It took a little getting use to the automation and glass but not too bad really. If you're young and can play xbox or use a computer, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Default Autopilot/FMS

Spend a lot of time with the autopilot and FMS... really know these well. It is truly a different way of thinking about flying. The tendency is to want to turn off the autopilot and Beech-it-around.

Maybe get the Wilco flight sim and use the FCP (flight control panel). I didn't. However, kind of wish that I had gone this route. I just can't stand playing a computer game of what I have to do at work.

You can use the FMS and autopilot in the Wilco simulation (MSFS 2002) and get used to what the buttons do and how you make the plane do what you want it to do. It will give you a big jump forward in understanding the automation and interpreting the amount of information available on the MFD/PFD.

V1 cuts are ridiculously easier than the Beech. It moves a bit faster in cruise (underestimation), but not so much different. The terminal area is actually a bit slower pace in the CRJ as you tend to slow it down a bit earlier. Truth be told it can do 250 to the marker just like the Beech...
