SKYWEST to Vote on ALPA
#181
I hope you are not referring to me, because you would be wrong in your observation. I am not some kid that's new on the block. All of my observations are from experience. I have been in the corporate world before flying. I have done plenty fine without unions to this point. Oh, and by the way, I am over 30, I do have a degree, veteran, and have plenty of life experience.
and yet you still know nothing about the importance of unions to aviation? and youre a veteran? you should know the importance of solidarity. military guys are usually the most avid union supporters.

bla bla bla
Which unions have you worked for in the past? Evidently your experience with them was better than the experience I had working for a union carrier. What I'm seeing on the line in general is the guys that have worked for unions are very leary about voting for a union here. On the other hand people that have never worked for a union are all fired up to get one. Now this is not always the case but in my experience its running 95% plus. I decided to talk to buddies of mine at the majors to get their opinions, knowing what they were going to say. To my surprise I was told "at the regional level if you don't have to have one, don't get one". BTW, those were Alaska, Continental and United guys. I realize thats not everyones opinion, just the guys I know. You know what, if I would have had a good experience with my past union, I'd be voting for this one too. And as far as an earlier post about kids with no life experience and so on. I'm 41, have owned my own business for 9.5 years and have 2 teenagers. Now if you want to talk problems, wait till you have a teenage daughter

totally disagree. a lot of the union drive is coming from former independence air guys. talk to them about work rules and other issues and theyll tell you whats up
plus youre refering to ASA defectors and Mesa guys, thats not a fair comparison because those places would suck 100x worse if they didnt have alpa

You know, you may be right. I guess I only know one Indy guy. Have not talked to him for over a year. There are a lot of people here and I surely don't know them all. I was just telling you my experience from my own little corner of Colorado. You don't disagree about my comment on teenage daughters do you? If you have one and its going smooth by all means share. I'm all ears

Not funny, lol. She's only fifteen although she's convinced that she's 20. On another note, I was unaware that we had that many Indy guys. I've met a ton of MESA and ASA and TSA guys but only one Indy. If you want to see a guy get mad, ask a mesa or tsa guy if their voting for the union

A lot of Indy guys came over after Indy went under (had nothing to do with the union). My guess is you most likely dont see the Indy guys anymore because theyve probably gotten their 1000 PIC and moved on, they would be considered a highly experienced pilot group compared to the ASA/Mesa/TSA guys.
one of my real good friends from SKW who was former mesa is going to vote alpa. he is able to separate the difference between bad management and the importance of collective bargaining. these are for the most part mutually exclusive.
