if you have 500 hrs you should take the first job that comes along. And then see how you like it. Nothing will stop you from making a lateral move to a better company once you have some jet time under your belt.

I know someone who works at psa who would tell you everything that propjet told you, only substitue a p at the beginning of asa. Every carrier has its problems, and there are some positive things too.
PSA, like other companies, has hired people with less than 300 total and less than 20 multi, according to simulator instructors that I know.
Living in base is worth everything in my opinion. I would suggest that you look closely at any job that is either in your town or in a town that you would be excited to move to. I would have gone crazy by now if I had to commute by air.
As for the 5 year upgrade at PSA, look for that to change. Things were slow there for a while, but they have picked up substantially now. I think it will be in the 2-3 year range spring, and that's no sugar-coated recruiting pitch. We are about to lose 70 captains to the mainline, and the training department is at max capacity (as they should have been 6 months ago) just to try and keep things running. With other non-regional companies picking up hiring, attrition is only going to increase also. If you are really concerned about the details of the upgrade time, I can get out the latest upgrade award and tell you where they are now.
One other note, that you can take for whatever it's worth- I don't know about ASA, but PSA doesn't have a training contract. Keep that in mind in case you feel like the stakes are too high.

Ok first off, if you read my first post properly I said: "Do not limit yourself to just PSA and ASA....." in your responses to my question.
Second off Ive already spoken to the manager of hiring at ASA.
