Or are you implying that the 350 or so pilots impacted by this "realignment" have no marketable skills other than flying the Canadair Regional Jet? At least 20 Captains are taking the right seat rather than go to JFK. That's a 40% pay cut. Don't you think some of the 200 displaced FOs would quit rather than get a place in New York? I imagine the 16-year Captains being told they will be going to JFK have a few more thousand TPIC, and thus many more options, than your run-of-the-mill 2nd year furloughed regional pilot (nothing against furloughed regional pilots, of course). Guys that, 10 years ago, decided to settle down in CVG and didn't jump to UAL, DAL, or SWA when their buddies did will start making calls and they'll be out the door as soon as any of them starts hiring. And out of those 350 displaced pilots (and 300 furloughs), I'm sure many have marketable skills outside of aviation. Maybe the JFK shove will motivate them more than pay cuts, eMistrial, JMs, reserve, and the revolving door that is the Comair president's office. There won't be 350 pilots quitting next week, but we will see much more attrition in the months ahead. Quit and go where? Anywhere but JF'n K, that's where! :D |

No offense taken... I'm screwed just like everybody else.
I think this JFnK thing will wake a few of them up. Until now, it's mostly been new hires getting JFnK out of training or FOs going to JFnK to upgrade. Or guys bidding there to get off reserve or commuters going to JFnK for the flights or better seniority. I know there are exceptions, but for the most part the majority of folks in JFnK had some choice in the matter. But not next week... |

Well, he did say guys with other jobs. Chances are they'll have to quit one of them if they're displaced to JFK, and guess which one most will choose?

Anywhere but JF'n K, that's where! :D Boom I am not implying anything I am just asking go where, their are 12.5 Million people out of work right now and that number is growing daily. Think about this a 16 year Capt on the 70 makes over $93 an hour a 1st Year FO at Delta makes $52 an hour. its not as simple as you may think most of those 16 year Capt have a house a mortgage kids in school a car payment or two taking a big pay cut like that is a major sacrifice. Unless the economy reverses course in the next 12 months I dont see any major airline hiring in droves for the next 36 months, I am not preaching gloom and doom just what I see as reality right now, sure their are jobs out there but they are few. The Company wants people to QUIT and this is one way they are tying to do it. Comair is very Top Heavy and management knows that and they are trying to cut the fat. A 16 year Capt has decent pay ok QOL why would they go somewhere to Be on RESERVE for a LONG time for almost half the pay. I remember in 07 Delta was putting alot of new hires on the 76ER out of JFK so there is no gurantee that said 16 year Capt would not end up at as you say JF'n K, |

Cincinnati is on the top ten list of Unhappy Cities for a reason:D |

I guess it's not true. The union put out a email yesterday. They said that the TSA has denied any truth to it and in fact are working in favor of the program.
The governments pathological lying had gotten worse in the last few months. No earmarks? Come on?! And if I didn't pay my taxes for four years I would be thrown in jail no doubt, not promoted to run the company which collects the taxes. I'm not trying to be political and I didn't care for B but this is way worse and eveeryone seems to just go along with it. Oh my! I would believe the Washington Post over a government beaurocracy |
