Every now and then I try to help the Pilots-N-Paws organization. Does anyone know what the requirements are to ship a dog and do we as employees get any discount on the shipping?

)Noting new legislation for FAA re-authorization (nothing that hasn't been discussed, ad-nauseum on APC)
)Update personal info to keep informed about upcoming contract negotiations.

...oh, and since you haven't been able to see these, they've gone back to acknowledging the pilots still furloughed.

I don't think we get a discount on shipping pets, we pay what passangers pay. Check delta.com for details on price.

As a former ramp agent, I'd advise shipping any pets as airline freight. The animals are not treated badly. They actually do get some special attention, like waiting in airconditioned or heated rooms for the flight, etc.

It is the noise issue. We've all been at the cargo bin with the APU running. You stay there too long, your ears will probably start bleeding.

Who knows how much noise there is once the engines are going. Or the wind noise.

I recommend either driving any animals yourself, or shipping via ground.

So any new info or rumors from you folks returning from furlough?
