Got the email today that classes have been cancelled until Sept.

Arrrggghhh!!!! This is frustrating!

sicktwstdfrk 05-05-2008 11:27 AM

Airwaves 05-05-2008 01:42 PM

Not my style.... I hate being idle and what good would it do me? I am trying to find something that will at least allow me to gain some time while I try to wait this one out...... then again.... Eagle/Pinnacle is looking pretty good right now.

Check your Co. Email

xjtops 05-05-2008 02:38 PM

I just got the email also, its showing a list of people to get the call back for a class date "if" one becomes available. I had to jump ship and go to AE.

Don't wait man. Get your resume out EVERYWHERE and take the first class date you get offered. That being said, obviously upgrade will be a lot quicker at Pinnacle. If PSA calls back and you don't have anything else then take it. Don't sit on your hands in this market.

Comair hiring 300 for weekly classes of 12.

Today was productive.... apps in at Comair, Pinnacle, Eagle, and a slew of other places.... I am never one to sit on my hands.

stanherman 05-06-2008 01:28 PM

Where else did you apply to?

belliott 05-07-2008 01:43 AM

Part 91 gigs, wx mod, vfr 135.... basically anything and everything that I came close to meeting the mins for. As you can probably guess I am not too picky with the current job market.

i have no clue what your trying to say...

It's not important,,, just keep learning and helping those lower on the flying totem pole. Don't be a jerk as "airwaves" has been in the past.

bradeku1008 05-07-2008 05:32 PM

Got mine in at Comair and thats about it. I was offered a job with Piedment and turned them down to go to PSA. So I think that I burned the bridge there. Im thinking about just doing some CFI stuff untill September.

Got an interview offer today from Comair.... maybe I should take and then again maybe I shouldn't.

If so, then please accept my sincere apologies.

bradeku1008 05-08-2008 06:47 AM

Belliott, what do your times look like for Comair? I would take the interview to keep you options open.

belliott 05-08-2008 07:58 AM

I am definitely taking the interview.... 715tt 400me.... hasn't changed since feb.

bradeku1008 05-08-2008 08:06 AM

How long did it take them to get back to you? Air Wisconsin sold there stock and gave there seat up with airways. Wonder if this will give PSA more flying and get us in ground anytime soon.

Airwaves 05-08-2008 08:48 AM

PSA isn't getting any more flying until Doug Parker decides to pay us more.

Good luck with the interview. When is it?

bradeku1008 05-21-2008 11:34 AM

Any PSA updates???

texaspilot76 05-21-2008 12:47 PM

Here's the latest.

The voluntary leaves of absence are not warranted. Next month's bid award reflects the staffing shortage this has created. We were not fully staffed before they asked for the leaves. My bid next month has me crediting 101 hours of pay, with over 90 of that actual flying and only 11 days off. I am in the top 50 out of about 250 FO's, yet my schedule stinks. This is the worst schedule I have seen since i have been here. All this leave is doing is causing us to have to work harder and longer. You will see a lot of junior manning. After a couple of months of this, the company will see that we are short staffed, and will resume the upgrades and new hires. I am guessing in September we will be resuming training.

trackpilot 05-21-2008 03:32 PM

I heard that only a few of the FO LOA's were approved since we are still short staffed.

bradeku1008 05-21-2008 05:21 PM

I dont understand, why wont they go ahead and run a new hire class this June or July since they are still short staffed? By the time we get done with ground, wait for our sim then actually get in and get done with IOE it's going to be the end of the summer when we are on reserve.

floyd78 05-21-2008 05:47 PM

I hear you guys...I just got done with sim and have 2 4 days back to back for IOE. There is definatly no shortage on flying that I can tell. I hope they get it back up and running soon. Our class was the last in the line after the great debackle with the class below ours. I don't wat to stay at the bottom too long:D Atleast I wanted Dayton...I feel for all the other guys in class!

bradeku1008 05-21-2008 06:12 PM

Yea, I hope things get back on track soon. Im about to start doing the CFI thing down at Dayton Wright Bros. Airport in the next week until my class date. They said it might be September when things get going again. I sure as h#!! hope not, I cant wait to start.

Floyd78, any helpfull hints on surving the groud and sim.

floyd78 05-21-2008 06:26 PM

It is not to bad..You are well prepped in ground to get through it all. Just know all the stuff that they gave you in the handout cold. All the memory items and the limitations

The sim is a different thing all together. You need to have your profiles and flows down cold before you get there. And when I say cold I mean...Cold! You need to be able to say them without thinking about it. (Like the micro machine dude) Prime example is the non precision hand flown approach. If you have to think about your calls you will screw the pooch:D. The sim is fun but it really shows where you are as an instrument pilot. Just make sure your scan is solid or you will struggle with the approches. So go out and hand fly approaches to death while you can it will set you up for a sucsessful sim.

Good luck! Hope you get in soon for my sake:D

Blueskies21 05-21-2008 07:54 PM

As ridiculous as this sound..... Microsoft flight sim with a crj really helps with your scan...a lot of us played it... just do steep turns at 250 kts for like half an hour and your scan will be so fast the approaches are cake.... let the flaming begin

Blueskies21 05-21-2008 07:55 PM

floyd I'm glad you guys are there to fill out the list..wish those other ten guys hadn't screwed the pooch.. i don't want to sit reserve all summer..

bradeku1008 05-22-2008 06:48 AM

Thanks floyd. Blueskies, I think Im going to try the flight sim thing, I'v heard from alot of people that it helps. Do you know if there is a website with additional information on the CRJ 200 that I could start looking at.

Take a look at www.rcoco.com/sdoc/ . If you familiar with a 121 MEL, take a look at the master MEL for the CRJ http://www.opspecs.com/AFSDATA/MMELs/Final/transport/. Scroll down to the CL series and open it up. This is the root document for every airlines MEL flying the CRJ.

bradeku1008 05-22-2008 07:46 AM

Thanks man, I need something to keep me motivated while I wait this out.

Blueskies21 05-22-2008 09:42 AM

Brad be cafeful what you study as far as additional info with regard to the airplane. Some things are not standard across every operator.. for example the gear limitation from bombardier is 250 but PSA uses 220 to keep things as common between the 200 and 700 as possible... also some operators allow the use of the autopilot to 80 ft per bombardier but PSA restricts it to 100 ft on an ILS... not big differences granted...but don't memorize numbers that might change... If you want to get a little ahead get the cockpit posters and the buttons book...that seemed to help a lot of people..though honestly I didn't think systems was that hard...

bradeku1008 05-22-2008 08:27 PM

Thanks, I think I will study it and then back it up with the Memory Item/ Limitations packet that Lisa sent us. It is depressing flying into Dayton with my students practicing ILS approaches knowing I should be down there in ground school.
