kilo alpha do you know what that means to the 170 base here in pit???

On thehub.usairways.com there is a document that greater details Airways' plan for PIT. One of the bits of info states that in January, "controlled" regional (vs pro-rate) departures will go from 26 to 27. Republic is a "controlled" regional. Colgan will likely close some outstations as they get out of several EAS routes serving PIT; all are EAS with the exception of IAD, SYR, and CRW. Air Midwest has already filed a request to stop all EAS routes serving PIT.

In general it looks like our daily departures will not be effected too much, we will have a few new destinations. These include destinations normally served by mainline: LGA, CLT, BOS, PHL, RIC... who knows.

Latest info regarding the status of PIT indicates that per our agreement with Airways, they are not allowed to reduce flying at ANY Republic base. The closure of PIT as a mainline base will have no negative effect on Republic Airlines operation in Pittsburgh. There may be a slight increase in PIT flying during the winter months. On a side note, look for CLT to be announced as a base in the coming months.

Any thoughts on how hard it is to get BUF as a base. Got a call for an interview last week but told them I had to find a day off (hard to do as a 135 on call pilot). Hoping I can get there for an interview soon.

If what you are asking is if I plan on staying at RAH.... I cant answer that but I will say that I have never cared if I flew the biggest plane or the fastest plane or made crap loads of money. I flew the Herc for gods sake and that was a freaking awesome plane to fly, but she was neither fast, or sleek nor did we garner much respect from our BIG MAC ( C-5 , C-141, C-5 ) brothers.....( yes the C-17 was still in testing when i left the AF ) .... so I could easily see myself staying at one place. on top of that im 44 and have had some life changing experiences in the past few years.... flying and a decent QOL is what I require...and to work for a company that in some way maybe perhaps if thats possible gives a damn about its workers. I flew for nearly 3 years for AE ( when it was an all Tprop op ) on the ATR and there was NO respect from AMR or the AA pilots for the Eagles....

So I guess if your question is why is a guy like me coming to RAH...because they have a good reputation and because of some of the aforementioned reasons. The grass is not always greener on some other seniority list....if that makes any sense.

Not sure I have answered your question but if not PM and I will elaborate further.

Almost exactly like me, here in about 5-10 years. I'm an old Herk guy too, but an enlisted guy with a bit of FE time and a lot of crew chief time on the Herks and about 5 years on C-9As (good bird, hated to see them go away). I'll be 38 when I retire from the AF - 5 short years - and hope to have a foot in the door for the regionals by the time I'm in my mid 40's if not sooner, currently working on PPL and will go from there. Judging by the reading here in the forums, QOL and compensation carry about the same weight for a lot of you, for all intents and purposes interchangeable for most it seems.

What you said made prefect sense, and I'm not even in your shoes. Good luck and fly safe.
