SKW 2008 Projected hiring?
Anyone know how many pilots SKW is planning on hiring in 2008? Where would one find out such information? I can't imagine HR would enjoy fielding questions on the subject. Or would they care? I see the info posted on the profile page but how accurate is that?

Crystal ball says same amount as this year... about 600 - 700. Training department is already set up to handle that.
10 more Midwest birds in 2008 means about 100 new pilots. Also, both FO's and Capt's are still leaving at about 1 per day, so about 365 more seats to fill. Plus, reserves are still depleted, so throw in a few hundred to build that up. My prediction is worth exactly what you paid for it. |

Seatown, if you haven't learned that about our company yet, the open door policy is true. I have emailed people I probably shouldn't have and asked questions to the same. Email and ask. What is it going to hurt? This isn't Trans States where they will fire you for wanting to know about hiring. Not yet anyways, that comes after ALPA is on property!
Tony, I don't know where EVERYONE (not just you) is getting the 30 people a month leaving? I have been here exactly one year. When I started, I was 2330 something. Now, I am 2128 as of Saturday. That is 200 over one year. That is what I have seen. For some reason, everyone says we are losing 30 a month and to my knowledge it has been more around 20. When I got hired I figured I would be 2000 by now, and I am not. I would be shocked with another 600-700. Are there that many pilots out there for that? Also, how much more RJ flying is left to be given out? I hope we get the Midwest stuff, but weren't they supposed to announce that this month? Thanks! |
Good to know! I thought it would be safe to ask here first. Appreciate the info.

Yeah, you would be shocked at how nice people are. If you ever have payroll questions, Margo is awesome!

I just talked to Camielle a few days ago, and she told me that SkyWest is still hiring like crazy well into 2008. I'm actually looking to make a jump from OH to OO.

BTW, since coming to SKW over 18 months ago, I've only moved up 336 numbers. That's just over 18 pilots a month in attrition. If you add the FO's behind me, it might reach 22 per month but no more. |
So everyone over at Skywest is still "sure" that they are getting 10 more planes to fly for Midwest? Obviously never dealt with the Midwest Air Group before :p
