What's going on with ZME?
#1
Just noticed on the FAA's OIS website that all traffic to and through ZME is ground stopped due to equipment outage and that ZME is entire off the air.
Anyone have any more info?

BellSouth lost a trunk line in the area and it ended up taking out a few radar sites and land line communication between other ARTCC as well as remote transmitter sites throughout ZME's airspace. THis causes a lot of delays because the majority of ZME's air traffic is overflights from DFW, IAH, ATL and others, so this causes the delay. Although if you listen to some crazy aviation analyst on FOX news, he would leave you to believe that it is due to the FAA's inadequate equipment. Which is funny since ZME upgraded to the new DSR consoles years ago and has nothing to do with the problem they are faced with right now.

Everything went back online about an hour ago. FedEx should be in the clear by tonight all the delays should be worked out.
