Talk about most inaccurate statements ever.

I could put together a SAAB crew today with Capt and FO both over 4,000 hrs of short legs low level in the weather. They are "stick and rudder" pilots not autopilot engaged syncopate trying to stay awake for four hours above the weather going cross country.

What is experience ?

It's not simply stating time as a factor. You can never say any one is better than the other. Completely different types of flying. SAAB crews are great a lower altitude flying but haven't had the experience in high altitude flying, fuel management over distances spanning a few thousand miles, international experience etc. There's a reason why UPS wants overseas experience. There's much more to it than just holding level. Stick and rudder is great and all but it doesn't take much to hold an altitude or maintain a direction.

Dude. Mesaba is the best airline ever. What don't you get? Mesaba pilots never make mistakes. Mesaba RULES! We ignore every other pilot walking through the airport, because we are far superior. We fly 900's too.

Stick and rudder experience (for some airline pilots) is more then straight and level. Sometimes its up and down mountain sides at 50 feet. Sharpens your decision making skills that you use later in fuel planning, international flight, etc. Give me a good stick and rudder pilot and I'll teach him to fly high and far.

Awesome. Nice to know that according to you guys the most experienced people are at the regional level! Guess all the extra years of expierence plus flying in a multitude of different environments and situations doesn't count for much. Wonder why the mainlines and other places just don't take 172 and Seminole guys. I mean I did WAY more stick and rudder flying in those things than in this jet. Perhaps there's much more to it than just stick and rudder and there's a reason you develop skills at one level before moving on to the next.

Not knocking you as I understand where you are going with things but these blanket terms about one group being better than another when they are completely different worlds of flying is just a stupid statement. That's like saying the fastest spinter in the world is more athletic than the fastest cross-country runner.

But TD, everyone knows that cross-country runners are FAR superior athletes to sprinters. Give me a man that can run twenty-five miles and I can teach him to sprint ;)
