PNCL contract- day 900!

Well the company has come out and is saying they want to implement new FO pay rates- evidently they cannot fill classes or keep people around. The rates are rather "industry average minus 4-6%". The contract is still not settled but they want to bring these rates in now. On the company board we are all saying NO. Fo's would love the raise but the company needs to deal with everybody. Plus this can very easily be viewed as "good faith" in front of a mediator to drag out talks some more. Just keeping everyone in the loop. I am on my way into work so I am sure some other PNCL people will post some more. A contract is definately getting closer, the company is realizing 2 things.

1. They must raise pay/work rules/benes to attract and attain
2. The union/pilot group is not taking crap from the company

And with the huge percentage of FOs and CAs that are going to time out this year this whole thing is going to get interesting!!

Please, please, please shoot for FO pay at least 60% of CA rates and CA rates equal or higher to XJT. As far as workrules; take your pick between what's out there for what will work best for your group.

PATTERN BARGAINING!!!

hahahaha,, yeah i laughed when i saw that letter from our mec chair.. sure i would love a 10 dollar raise but i want a contract, not something else that will drag these negotiations out another 900 days.. it took almost 3 years of patiently waiting for this time but it is here.. the company is short on pilots, we cant recruit, and the group is ready to strike... i believe all of this is coming to head because we have several grievences that will be ruled on before the end of the month,, some of them, including the colgan scope grievance, would be devestating to the company..

I love it! First ASA now Pncle; the industry is starting to turn around. Slowly, yes! But it's changing. Carriers are starting to realize the pool is drying up and they have to set themselves apart from others in order to draw the lowly pilot into their webs.

This is the beginning and I can't wait to see where we are in 10 years.

p.s. For SKW pilots, vote YES for your future! Your family! & your Careers! & leave your greed out of it!

This raise would be a bandaid, but not a fix. I can feel something in the air here at old pinnacle. I believe that the MEC should shoot this offer down 100%. This is the first sign of weekness that management has shown, they are aknowledging that they can't fill classes. I know that delta does not want to have a problem with one of its new carriers, so this could be a very good sign for pinnacle pilots.

Congrats bretherin, try to raise that bar!

Yes it would be a "Band-Aid" but the overall affect is a good beginning. We need to raise the bar and this is a sign that carriers are finally starting to feel the pressure which will allow us to gain/regain what we/others have lost.

This is exactly the same ploy that ASA Mgmnt tried before agreeing to their new contract (still has yet to pass the pilot group

Hang strong guys/gals!

As I said on the company board, I have 500 bucks in bills that I can't pay because I make poverty wages. The extra money would be great. But it’s not just about me. It’s about helping this entire industry by showing these management groups that we wont take this anymore. We are an extremely qualified and professional pilot group and we deserve better treatment. I have gone this long with low pay and have managed to keep good credit. I can continue to fight for a while longer. Management sending us this proposal only makes me want to fight harder for what we deserve. TRUST ME, PINNACLE PILOTS WILL NOT SIGN A SUB-PAR CONTRACT OR SOME B.S. LOA (letter of agreement) MANAGEMENT WANTS US TO SIGN. This is just another ploy by management to drag our negotiations out even further.

Great News

That is great news. As a brand new FO, I am absolutely in favor of NOT accepting the band-aid.

I understand there is some sort of suit pending regarding the new hire bonuses. From what I understand, it is a change in pay without union agreement, and the union is arguing in court to do something...I dunno...get the old contract thrown out completely?

I just got my bonus and don't know if I need to bring it to anyone's attention.

Thoughts?

yes, this is one of the SEVERAL grievances that are about to be handled very soon with an arbitrator decision.. cash your bonus man its yours, they cant take it back because contractually that is what you were told when you were hired. what will happen is that the company can be fined by the union or "exchange" this violation to get something we want in return.. Scope, bonuses, prefbid, vacation slides, all of this is coming to a head in the next couple of weeks,,,, i think the company is in for a big suprise.
