I already have over 1000hrs dual given and about 20 hrs dual given in a multi.....students are just hard to come by right now, and i need to get this done NOW.....that's my only dilema.....

If anyone is interested in flying let me know....i'm not prepared to go back and forth with "buy or don't buy, flight time" arguments. That was not the intention of the thread.

Thanks

"you will learn more as a CFI, II, MEI"

Agreed

"flying VFR with a buddy between the same few airports"

I think a small amout of safety pilot time, in the right situation, can be a good experience. 25 hours is good, 50 hours is about my limit, and 100 hours is padding your logbook.

I don't think the question is so much that a guy is going to skip the CFI phase. It's more that it's just hard to come by multi time in some circumstances and doing a little safety pilot time is a cost effective way of getting some cross country time while focusing on using the IFR system.

See if some rich guy with a twin will let you ride with him on an Angel Flight. I have heard of guys letting time-builders ride along on Angel Flights if they pay for fuel. Cheap multi-time

With the industry going the way it is I just think any MEI would be hard pressed to find real students. I'm scared to go get my ATP because I don't know what it will run to rent a twin for a few hours plus the checkride.

http://www.atriplep.com/ourprogram.html <--two weeks for $8300 gets you 100hrs of multi. Do the math that's $83 per hour which is a cheap deal if you're wanting to go that route. I'd still advise against it. You can get hired now with your times at some places considering you are an MEI. Look into Great Lakes, Colgan, Pennicle, Mesa, etc.

Find a flight school that has indian students and get the MEI. There are a bunch in FL. The indian idustry is booming and american schools are swarmed with indian students all of wich need 25 hours multi time for the DGCA requirements. I got my MEI 3 months ago, i had 40 ME-hours, now i have approx. 200....

FYI the "indian" students do NOT need much mulit time for job hiring in India! I'm at a flight school in Fla and they are packed in the c-172's like sardines.......over there they mainly just need single engine time......So yeah you might be an MEI, but getting 40 hours in 3 months, vs buying 100 and doing it in about 15 days.............remember seniority is everything!!!!!

Also add the $15.00/hr u get paid as a MEI times the previous guys example of 40 hours in 3 months, that gives you a salary of $600.00.....now deduct your rent and living expenses and monthly bills for 3-months.......might be better to buy it, fly it, get it done and move on!!!

He is not saying he gained 40 hrs in 3 months. He said he started with 40 when he got his MEI and Now 3 months later he has 200.
