New Eagle Mins

So I gotta figure out how to stop getting emails from them, but Eagle sent me the weekly installment of "begging for pilots" today. The claim to have lowered their mins to 500 and 100, but will accept apps with 400 and 50. Tough times for the big kid on the street.

These new lower mins for AE:

Are they just as it appears or is there some sort of prerequiste that has to be met in order for the airline to consider you with those times?

"American Eagle Airlines would like to announce their next upcoming First Officer job fair. In addition, American Eagle Airlines has changed their hiring minimums. We are now requiring 500 hours of total time and 100 hours of multi time. We will also accept applications with 400 hours of total time and 50 hours of multi time. Please see our website for further details. "

That's what the email said. The website mentions time commensurate with experience. I'm guessing the 400 and 50 is for people with prior 121 (maybe just turbine?) experience. Either way, one of the biggest sticklers for the time is caving to the pressure.

I wonder how long it will be until SkyWest lowers mins.....

I get the impression SkyWest's plan is more along the lines of stealing pilots from other regionals.

I was told that Skywest won't be lowering their minimums. The person that told me this info heard this from a SKywest HR person.

I heard it from your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate.

Seriously though, what kind of stopgap solution is lowering minimums? So now they can hire the people that they would have hired anyway in four months. What are they going to do in four months?

with staffing issues does that mean you can expect upgrade time to come down?

At AE the mgmt solution to the staffing problem is to park airplanes and reduce flying. "Shrink to profitability" should sound familiar.

No, Eagle is suffering from FO attrition not CA.
