What about John? Yeah, Scenic has produced some of the best pilots out there. When you go for the interview - slow down your thinking process and don't act like a CFI on speed that would give his left arm just to fly an old otter. Be straight forward and tell the truth - the guys interviewing you has lots of experince. Good luck!

So true. I was flying with someone who flew there in 2002, asked the same questions. The only wisdom if you go there is, enjoy your time there. When I was there, I was in such a hurry to get my time and leave. All the regionals will be hurting for pilots for years. The grass isn't as green on the regional side of the fence as you might think. Good luck.

I thought they notified people by email.........

FL600 11-12-2007 08:03 AM

Me too - but I got a phone call friday afternoon.

cfii2007 11-12-2007 09:42 AM

What are your times???

OnTheWayUp 11-13-2007 12:39 PM

This is so frustrating...why can't I get a call from them? People with less time are getting interviews, what do i need to do to get one?

cfii2007 11-13-2007 02:39 PM

Subtract a bunch of flight time from your logbook?

You think the reason you didn't get hired was because you were overqualified?

No, just saying if you believe people with lower time are getting interviews, just lower the amount of time in your logbook.

Sounds logical...right?

Laxrox43 11-13-2007 06:32 PM

I think the reason that cfii2007 didn't get hired was because of his/her attitude. Your attitude speaks volumes in an interview. HR/Tech/Sim, whatever. If they see that you honestly want to be there, if they see that you have truely prepared for the interview, that you are trainable, and that you aren't interviewing there for it to be a "fall-back" airline, you will get the job.

Yes, these folks that have gotten interviews, or jobs for that matter, have less time then you. So what? They WANT to be there. That is the difference between you and them.

Now for those who haven't been called yet, no worries. They will call eventually. If you know someone in the company that can pop their head into HR, that should speed up the process quite a bit. Good luck to you all. Keep the faith.

I doubt my attitude was the problem.

The interviewer told me to my face that they hire low time guys. Reason being, they tend to stick around longer. No airline wants to spend money training a pilot, only to have them bail in a few months when they hit 1000 hours.

It's just good business sense.

So if you are low time, seriously...apply. The airline is a great stepping stone after 12 months or so!

OnTheWayUp 11-14-2007 01:38 PM

I'm at 245/155, and I have a great attitude :) I just want a chance to interview..

cfii2007 11-14-2007 01:50 PM

You'll get one, just study the ATP written...and do the sim prep.

COTriple7 11-15-2007 10:48 PM

ATP written test is no longer part of the interview. Congrats FL600 on the successful interview. Heard from recruiting that you did an awesome job. Looking forward to seeing you on the line.

Berkut 11-15-2007 11:13 PM

Congrats on the job, FL600!

Sounds like they are making some changes to the interview process.

FL600 11-16-2007 02:59 AM

Thank you for all the help and encouragement everyone!

I interviewed and was hired for a December 6th class. I am really excited - seems like hard work, but a lot of fun.

Interview is straight forward. If anyone wants more info, pm me.

cfii2007 11-18-2007 03:38 PM

Laxrox43 11-18-2007 05:02 PM
