Default Mesa Buddy Pass

Suppose that hypothetically someone who quit Mesa a few months ago still had a Mesa buddy pass. The pass says it's no good after the employee quits, but I'm wondering how the gate people at, say USAir, would know. Anyone know if the buddy pass is still usable?

Sounds like you're playing with fire there ;-)

I *technically* (long story) used my flying bennies with another carrier after I had already quit...That was a long talk with my former airlines HR department for sure!

I certainly learned my lesson - didn't seem wrong at the time, but you don't want to be playing with those fireworks!!

It may even get you fired - I have seen a few people get fired at F9 for either selling buddy passes or abusing companion non revenue privileges. - one person actually listed their land lord as an uncle so that the land lord could fly for free/reduced rate then in return I am sure that person got reduced rent. Its not worth playing with fire. -

Crap.... I gave this person a pass a while back. They called me a few days ago asking if it was still good. Hopefully they'll destroy it or send it back to me when I call them tomorrow. Thanks for your answers.

You can't be the first person to have supplied someone a buddy pass and then quit the carrier. I'm just wondering how they can hold you responsible because someone else went flying on a buddy pass that's not even in your possession.

If it is on USAir, when they check in for a flight, the computer will show that you are not an active employee, and they will not issue the ticket. They will however, refund the purchase price of it.

Unfortunately, it's not a USAir buddy pass. It's a paper buddy pass, in carbon triplicate, issued by Mesa, usable only on a Mesa aircraft. I guess I can only hope the ticket agent can check the status of a Mesa employee on a Mesa buddy pass.

True...I had given out some mesa passes before I quit (or knew I was going to). I'm pretty sure they got used later. But what could they do about it anyway? Sue me?
