When and if the maids clean the coffee makers, they just wipe it out with the same rag they wipe the rest the room/bathroom with. They are not going to sterilize things. When the room APPEARS clean, their job is done. This includes the coffee maker and the toilet. Also they don't wash their hands or put new gloves on after cleaning the toilet and touching the coffee pot and drinking glasses. The simple fact that most hotels keep the coffee maker in the bathroom should make one weary of using it.

They all don't need to be refridgerated. Most hotels have a microwave somewhere, even if it's in the employee lounge. If you call the front desk they'll let you use it. For breakfast, I eat instant oatmeal or Smart Start bars. The strawberry vanilla ones are delicious and high in fiber.

For snacks I pack 100 calorie snack packs. I take enough food to last the whole trip. It all fits in my roll-aboard without the need for refridgeration or another bag. I can live for under $10/day and only eat out when I choose. Also managed to lose 30 pounds over the past year just by eating measured portions of these meals. They're not even diet!

Ever check out the fat and sodium content in those things? Same with TV dinners, even the "diet" TV dinners. Sure, they're cheap but they're the fastest way to a blood pressure problem later in life. Personally, I'd rather spend a little more and eat healthy now rather than have to deal with the health problems later in life.

I had a captain that made grilled cheese with his clothes iron.

He slaps together the sangwich at home, Pams the foil and sets the iron directly on the foil with the sagwich inside. Viola a couple minutes a side and steaming grilled cheese!!!!

I never laughed so hard.
