I interviewed with Mesa early last month at one of those job fairs. My objective was to get some experience interviewing before the real interviews later on in the month. Unfortunately (I don't know why I did not see this coming) it was almost a complete waste of time.
The "interview" consisted of a 2 hour powerpoint rant on why Mesa is a good company to work for followed by 20 mins of testing and interviewing. Most of the face to face interviewing was them asking about your record and flying experiences.

I would HIGHLY encourage people to attend these job fairs wherever possible to put the recruiters on the spot by asking them about:

1. Days off?
2. Vacation?
3. Why so many delayed paychecks?
4. Why, when you DO recieve a paycheck, is it NEVER what it should be?
5. What part of your day do you get paid for and how is it equated?
6. Attrition?
7. What are the possibilities of being junior manned?
8. Why the $12,000 training contract?
9. How are the negotiations going?
10. How long have you been with Mesa? Have you applied anywhere else?

Hopefully, everyone else in the room considering Mesa will get the picture.

YES, that is awesome! Great, authentic questions. Everything you mentioned is a huge issue with pilot quality of life. The last pilot recruiter quit because she couldn't take it, I wonder who they've got in there scrounging now.
