so uh, whats the difference between captain of a 208 and captain of a 172?

Uhhhhh...well...not much.

Except it's complex, bigger, and high performance. But PIC hours in a 172 would be a lot more valuable than SIC time in a 208. At 400 hours, you can get 121 SIC time in a tprop or jet, and you don't have to check tickets or toss luggage for peanuts...not sure why anyone would want SIC single-engine time. Unless this is the kind of job you want for the next 5 years or so, then more power to you.

It is PIC part 135 TURBINE at least, even if single engine. It won't get you that job at Southwest, but if you're trying to build up hours to go corporate or fractional or something, there are worse ways to build time.

In an interesting paradox, a 172RG is a complex airplane while a 208 is not.

They are not definately mesa.(an employee got fired for letting a go! employee jumpseat) I worked for pacific wings in honolulu and maui. You have to work all positions. Reserverations, ticket counter, ramp agent, and fo. at times you may even have to unload bags yourself in the outstations while flying as an fo.

You are scheduled to fly twice a week and the rest will be the "other" positions. On your days off, you can fly open legs but not get paid for it! Pay is not great, but its something. $8/hr with benefits(please don't shoot the messenger) they have a fleet of 6 caravans(i don't know about NM)

From what it sounds like, it might be pretty hypocritical to fire someone at THAT kind of company for letting a Go! pilot jumpseat. Go! might do some illegal, ghetto-banger stuff and be a bottom-feeder, but heck, at least they don't make their guys haul bags and fly legs without pay!!!

I pitty all you folks who never got to fly a Caravan (aka The Beast). No, they aren't sexy or fast, but...

They are easy to fly and very forgiving
Darn near bullet-proof
reliable (systems? what systems?)
comfortable flying approaches at 75 kias (stuck behind a C150) or at 175 (the red line) to the MM and still make the first turn off
but best of all.... ROOMY

oh, and in the cargo version, in the winter with the heat on, we could heat up beanie-weanies on the floor vents (the cans fit in so nicely).
