Load Manifests on the Palm

I was flying with a captain some time ago who had Load Manifest calculator on their Palm Pilot. It was specific to the AC we were flying, the Saab 340. It was very handy for adding and subtracting people/bags to appease our lovely gate agents at the IAD A Gates. Unfortunately, I can't remember the captain's name. Anyone know where to aquire this software? Been looking, but no luck.

I was talking to a Colgan Saab 340 Captain that had it too. He said there is a pilot that is a programmer flying with them and he said its floating around. It was a neat program and compatible with some phones.

It takes 15 min to make something like that in Excel.

make sure your company allows it though.

Or you can just use a basic calculator and pen to do your 1st grade level arithmetic. A palm pilot? Seriously guys.

All Captains at Horizon do weight and balance on a palm device (actually it's a Dell). They get them in upgrade class.

That's definitely something that you don't see "other" regionals doing. It's definitely easy to create an excel program and interpolates the CG Wheel. I'm just too lazy to create one.
It's definitely not approved but you can use it to check your your calculations and make sure that you're on top of it. ;)

If you use it to figure out the weight and balance and it works out when you fill out the sheet, who gives a rip how you came up with the numbers? Thats like saying I can't use my hand held calculator to approximate a fuel burn because the calculator is not approved.

It also becomes useful when you are trying to juggle weight to get that jumpseater on or figure out how many heads aren't going to get where they are going. I don't like to mess up my sheet and have to redo it while crunching number scenarios.
