I love it at SkyWest, highly recommended. MKE and ORD contend each month for the most junior base in the company, you are almost guaranteed to get one or the other out of training. There is a cheap bus as well as a train that runs between MKE and ORD. If you get MKE, you'll probably be back at ORD within a couple months of getting out on the line.
"But then again, that is what I thought and ended up getting the EMB and now I commute 2100 miles to FAT."
That's funny, I commute 2100 miles the opposite direction from FAT to MKE....at least it's only for another 2 months.

Really? It only takes me 6-8...I do FAT-DEN-MKE or FAT-LAS-MKE (reverse that going back across the country). With the exception of FAT-DEN the flights are always wide open. But yes, I hate commuting too, and I'd probably take you up on your offer if you were in the jet too...you can actually sit reserve in any crew base as long as they approve it, maybe they wouldn't notice if you called up and asked to sit reserve on the Bro in MKE...lol

I think I already know the answer to this question, but anyone know how hard a commute would be to ORD outta MEM, DTW, or ATL??? Which would be easier (if any).
Just trying to figure out if living in ORD would be possible while working for ASA, Mesaba, or 9E.

I'd shy away from anything to do with commuting and O'hare in the same sentence...CAVU you've got no problem - but if a single gnat farts, it's all over. Also be wary of 1 cloud + 2 planes = 3 hour delay...

Alright, not directed directly at Kansas, and yes you are limited if narrowing to chicago...but for all those looking at regionals....SKYPEST IS NOT THE END ALL BE ALL OF REGIONAL AIRLINES!!! They have PLENTY of improvements that could be made to their contract, plenty that were made more evident by the contract signed by ASA. And NO, I don't work for either of them! Sorry, I was trying to be positive tonight, but just can't handle all the kool-aid always here.
He asked which airline with an ORD base would be best to work for.
If you think that Eagle, Mesa, or GoJet is a better place to be you're drinking something a lot stronger than Kool Aid. And if you think Skywest is the "pest" of the industry, you're just clueless. I agree that there's a lot of room for improvement, but we're waaaay above the bottom feeders.
