Newhires are getting ORF reserve, with (recently) most able to hold the base of their choice in the first vacancy bid after their date of hire.

Those in the first class of the year who bid ORF will have next to no reserve following IOE.

Just wondered how long you had to wait between sending in your stuff and getting an interview. I've heard it takes several weeks from some people but they got back to me in less than a day to tell me my name, address and phone number didn't transmit correctly through their app system. I was also curious what qualifications you applied with. I applied a week ago and Ive been trying to figure out if they are still mulling my app over or if I've already found my way into the "nope" pile. Good luck with the interview!

I met their recruiting team at a local seminar/ conference/ job fair thing that they attended, and that was on a Saturday. They were doing prelminary interviews with anyone who showed interest, which helped my case since I didn't meet anybody's time requirements, especially AWAC's. This really seemed to help my case. I was reasearching the attended airlines, more than I was trolling for a job, since this event was still a few months in advance of when I felt I would be qualified. Nevertheless, to answer your question, that was a Saturday, and they called me on Tuesday to make arrangements for the formal interview process in Appleton. I have a friend who submitted his app, had time to interview and get a class date with both American Eagle and Mesa, pick between the two, get a week into training, and then get the call from Air Wisconsin. I'm not sure what their rhyme or reason is for calling folks. I doubt you're in the nope pile just yet. They seem to respect the applicants, especially if they were willing to not shoo me from their table. I hope that answers your question.

AirInc runs traveling seminars at major cities. They offer some good info at a high $$$, but there are normally numerous airline recruiters of all levels there. I went to one and got an interview...totally unexpected since I didn't meet their mins! The guy just said to make sure I had the mins prior to the interview date!

Yeah, I've flipped through an issue of AirInc but couldn't justify the cost. Know of any other (read cheaper) ways to get info on those seminars? Also, do they charge a fee to go to those seminars?

Any AWAC pilots on this thread that can share what their average number of hours of flying on reserve and as a line holder? If you have a year's worth of data that would be great. Thanks!

If you have times that are within the published mins, many airlines who attend the conferences will move your resume to the top of the stack if you take the trouble to go there and show your face at their booth and chat for a while.

You have to have a badge to enter, so you have to pay the $$$. The real value is not the info presented, but the opportunity to meet recruiters. Come prepared for an interview, w/ resumes and a suit.

Yeah, I agree. Face time with someone is invaluable. I think I would come in like a guided missle with airlines in mind and hit my target list then maybe see who else is around:D Just got to find out where and when and I would be there! Maybe I can track down a copy of AirInc somewhere.

Rickair7777 is right, it is just your average Air, Inc. deal. I felt like I pretty much got what I paid for in terms of the weekend's contents, but I did put on my critique sheet how I thought it was a little more geared towards guys looking for jobs with majors, or furloghed guys, etc. With that said, I honestly belive I would have never been taken seriously by anyone without getting to speak with them face to face. If you have to pay to travel and make hotel arrangements on top of the cost of the conference, the cost does get very ridiculous very quickly. I got lucky since it was in my town.
