I did the same, when I got hired I had 150ME, 50 of which I paid for. And in reality, that really isn't much. I did the teaching thing for a year or more in everything from a C150 to a C421, and before that I did free-lance instruction while I was finishing school.

AA dumped the F100s because they became cost prohibitive. There were no parts available so every time one broke, a part had to be created. That's a lot of expense for the tooling and machining for an airplane that held 87 people. Had nothing to do with the rates.

so far the only excuse for working there has been a base near home which doesnt always make sense, a horrible pilot group with no unity, and hiring pilots who cant get a call from another airline which really makes you wonder why. you should be proud. hey i will even through in a smiley face to make it official. COLGAN IS A JOKE ;)

I don't really care but I find it amusing that pilots who work for a company that used to make you pay for training are that harsh on another. 10 years ago I think it was 7500 for the 1900 and 9500 or 10000 for the emb120 or ATR. You pay that plus your room and board. Airlines evolve over time just not overnight. Colgan won't change that fast just like express didn't.

just curious who this newarkblows guy works for what his experience in the industry is and what his experience with colgan is?

My assumption is that he/she is a recent Riddle-Rat grad that thinks he/she is God's gift to flying, Mommy and Daddy gave him everything he/she ever wanted, and this job (I'm assuming ExpressJet) is the first real job he's/she's ever had in their whole life...

Just a hunch...
