Default Skywest question

Hey guys, I have a friend flying piston freight who wants to jump to the regionals. He's especially interested in Skywest. Any info about hiring out there?

Unhappy skywest status

SkyWest due to the flood of the changing industry of the majors I.E Delta's reorganization in chapter 11, and Uniteds cutback in flying, has halted interviews til end of first quarter of 06. The company needs to "take the slack out" before they resume hiring. I flew cargo in pistons for airnet for 2 years before hitting the regionals and have been in them for 4 years now. wish your friend good luck.

skywest, ord crj pilot

I'm interested in skywest and am 35. If classes are age based for seniority in terms of bases and equipment preferences, what are my chances (once hiring resumes!) of getting a RJ in Denver??? Is there any way to predict what planes/bases the company is hiring for in advance???

Default SkyWest Hiring

SkyWest hires almost 4 to 1 into the CRJ. In the past, pilots would usually rotoate out of the Brasilia into the CRJ as soon as their 1 year lock was up. With most of the expansion behind us, my guess is we will get closer to a 50/50 (EMB/CRJ) hiring swing.

EMB's are slowly going away, too so the chances for CRJ slots as a new hire are very good. Plan on ORD, SLC, COS and DEN as junior rj bases.

Good Luck

More than likely June/July. This is what they are telling the instructors.
