Well the web site says a candidate must be nicotine free for 6 months prior to employment. Quiting smoking is not enough.

Do you guys have a smoking section in your crew rooms?
I always see F/A smoking at the restraunts and smoke rooms at the airport, but never see any Pilots.
Wow...people are so judgmental about smokers...you guys make me want to go burn one right now.

Smoking (or dipping) is obviously a bad idea, but I really don't care if you do it...as long as I don't have to smell it. That means you can't burn one while wearing the clothes that you are going to wear into the cockpit. Smoke after work all you want. I can deal with it in the bar, but not all day at work. Dip all you want, just don't spill it on my gear.

Smoking makes you look cool, and chicks dig it. Something about the gray pallor of the skin and that productive, mucus filled smokers hack is irresistable to hotties.

[QUOTE=johnpeace;299430]Im still a CFI. Smoking is a gross bad habit. I won't even train smokers on grounds it reflects a serious lack of good judgment....[I took the liberty to edit out rest of sentence. ]

Would that be your judgment or theirs? I haven't read such a holier-than-thou line of BS in a long time. Thank you and please grow up.

Id like to see that guy tell a student that he wasnt going to train them because they were a smoker HAHA-can we all say discrimination lawsuit.
You guys didnt even ask to see If I was a smoker before the bashing started. Did you ever think that maybe I was just comparing your airline policies to the corp. aviation world policies,(what I know) oh no wait, you were to quick to start an anti smoking campaign, the same people who damage their livers everyday from drinking-but thats acceptable-

Regarding Alaska airlines policy, How do they justify this, it does seem like discriminatio to me.

I will smoke a few cigarrates in a night out at the bar but am not a regular smoker, a pack can last me 2 weeks and I go days without smoking. Would I even show up as positive for nicotine?
