Exactly! and the only way you will know about this job is if you do it for a couple of years! i go through bouts where i hate this job more than anything and then i will go on a six week high when I love everything about it! Dont get me wrong flying airplanes is awesome, its very enjoyable!

But Flying airplanes is a very small part of the "airline lifestyle" waiting for hotel vans, working into your days off due to mx, 3 trips in a row with a crew of slam clickers, reduced rest, deadheading, waiting for hotel vans, crappy hotel rooms, 6 on 2 off 4 on 2 off, waiting for hotel vans, deferred APUs, dragging your flight kit and roll aboard up two flights of stairs multiple times in one day, waiting for hotel vans, and lousy crews!

There are some good things though! Cool crews, life section of the Free USA Today, good overnights, good landings, bad landings, shooting approaches to minimums, sunsets (i know....save it), sunrises ( i know.......p*** off), 7 days off in a row without using vacation, hot gate agents, calling in sick, 30 and 7, de-icing and watching the clock tick, a good overnight with a small pub with 4 other crews as well as your own, seeing buddies from college all over the country, travel benefits, pictures, nice hotels, good schedules, listening to your ipod while putting gel in your hair, bit**** and moaning on internet forums, and finally radio humor!

This job can be the best job in the world or the worst, it all depends on your QOL when the door is open! I have found that if i go to work with a good attitude and try to be optimistic, i have a blast. But if i get in a 2 week stint with a bunch of bad weather, crappy crews, bad overnights, and late hotel vans, i get very down. But you have to keep in mind that things will get better and they will get worse, you just have to roll with the punches and try to stay optimistic even when the blank hits the fan! You'll never know until you give it a try!

Cheers SK!
