Mesaba's discount (75%) applies to Priority Overnight, Standard Overnight, Economy Two-Day, and International Priority. Of all the corporate discounts listed, this is the only one I ever use besides the special rates on hotels. I had a similar bad experience with a clerk at Kinko's. So now I just bring a printout of the page on MyMesaba that describes the discount program with me rather than trying to argue with them. If they will honor the discount on Economy Two-Day as they should, it's usually about the same or a few bucks cheaper than just going with ground (~4 day service). You basically pay the same as ground but get it 2 days faster.

The Shipping Discount for airline employees applies to the services provided by FedEx Express ONLY. FedEx Ground is another animal. It's the same discount that any employee of FedEx Express gets -- identical.

You should be able to receive that discount wherever you drop off your packages, BUT ... if that place happens to be a FedEx Kinkos, realize that you will be dealing with an employee of FedEx Kinkos who might not be as familiar with the shipping discounts. If you're willing to be patient and help that "new guy" work through the education process, you'll get your discount, he'll learn something new, and it will be easier for you (or some other airline guy) the next time. If you don't have the patience, skip Kinkos and find a World Service Center.

Don't forget to bring your airline ID.

Glad to be of service.

Also, when you go to ship something using FX, if the package is out of a certain linear dimension, it gets a higher premium tacked on to it. Not sure of the size of skis you are using, but just be prepared. At least, this is what I was told when shipping a bicycle to Europe at a world service center once. The bike under the measurement, barely.

I'm guessing because of the size of the package vs the weight and the fact that it's awkward size may take up space that can be occupied by higher revenue generating packages.

I shipped and envelope out of FLL at a FedEx/Kinkos and the guy gave me 70% discount, then shipped a similar envelope with the same service out of a FedEx/Kinkos in STL and got a 75% discount.... anyone else experience this?

The 70% thing was in October of last year and the 75% shipment was last week.

I'm not complaining about the 70% discount, I just got a bigger discount than I expected last week.

Thanks, I'll let you know how it turns out. Any estimates on what a set of skis would cost shipping one way?

Is the Fedex Interline discount still valid???

Thanx!

Its only for express shipping. Ground is actually a different company that operates under the FedEx name (or so I have been told), we only have the deal with Express. (All express from Custom Critical to 2 day.)

I've done it a few times. Went right into the FedEx Kinkos location with my Republic ID, along with the copy of the benefits off of the Airways website and had zero problems. It is 75%, but it only applies to next day or 2 day shipments.

Thanks a bunch!

To my knowledge FedEx is not eliminating the Kinkos discount, to redeem FedEx employee discounts simply present your badge (contractors included) and you will receive said discount. The shipping discount is dirt cheap, but it also the first to bumped over a paying customer's package, to the next flight, truck, sort or day.
