Reserve at Colgan
Hey I just got based up in Albany, NY for Colgan. Everything with COlgan so far has been pretty awesome, training, IOE, and all the guys I flew with or trained with have been awesome guys, so I was hoping if I can expect the same with Reserve. I am on Reserve the whole month of Jan and wondering if I can expect to fly alot, or a little any Colgan guys out there that have any info, please let me know, thanks, and for anybody thats wondering, SAAB 340 is an awesome airplane, so if your thinking about Colgan go for it, great bunch of people!

I would probably say to not expect to fly a lot as an FO with a reserve line. I don't know if it's that way with Albany, but the guys down in TX with reserve lines almost never fly. Now a Captain or F/A with a reserve line is a different story...

Chris,
A guarantee is not what you will fly in a month, just what your pay will be....

Hey that's awsome....I am going to college here in Albany, and live here....getting my commericial Inst MEL soon.....I plan on getting in with Colgan sometime in early 2007. I've been flying out of Albany for about five years now as a pilot......if ya ever wanna hang out PM me, me and my flight team will come hang with you! By the way...I LOVE the Saab to death, when I get with Colgan I would rather have the Saab, even if the upgrade times are longer than the beech.

FO staffing is pretty good, so reserves haven't been flying a whole lot recently. Looks like there's only 1 guy in ALB that's getting ready to upgrade, so unless some other FOs are looking to transfer out of ALB soon you might be on reserve for a while. If it's all the same to you, you might consider transferring to another base after a couple months where you could hold a regular line. Glad you're liking it so far, have fun in ALB.

You're only going to be on reserve this month. The bids are already out for Feb. Check the company website and bid. The Colgan's hate paying pilots to sit around. I flew 790 hours my first year and had only one month below the 75 hour guarentee.
