RAH call after Job Fair
Has anyone who attended one of the job fairs that RAH has been putting on heard from them? If so how long was it after?

I suspect IF you get the call it will be monday.

Usually in a day or two. But I've heard of a few as late as a week.

Thanks- was wondering what was up-went to the one in Orlando (1/12) and had the most flight time of anybody there with almost all of it jet time-know i did well on the tests and still no call. Only 12 people at the event, so I was thinking they were trying to finish the rest of the events before they started calling people, well thanks for the info.

just curious what is the company hiring into, which cert... I'm with Skyway, but as you guys know we will close our doors April 5. SkyWest will continue to operate, (d.b.a. Midwest Connect) I would like S5, I live in chicago. but most of all I would like the 170/175 I am willing to commute but prefer not to. Also, how many lines in Chicago, I would really appreciate any info...from any Rep. Shuttle or chat... pilots thanks |
Also, I faxed a resume on thursday, they emailed me the same day. Instructed me to fill the online app, Did that friday. Hoping to hear from them next week sometime.
My times are 1600 total, 880 multi 780 turbine/121 I hope that qualifies for the 170. |

I really don't care what I fly, but I live in chicago, that is a 170 base..

Upgrade time is about 18 mths, so if you do get the 145, you'll eventually be CA in the 170 at some point not too far down the road. Good luck.

In answer to your questions, they're hiring onto all three certificates, apparently with the most aggression onto Republic. It seems they're sticking a lot of their more qualified candidates (like you) onto the Shuttle America certificate. So yes, you qualify for the 170. A more realistic number that I've heard from RAH is more like 700 pilots in the next year. That's one of the more conservative estimates I've heard, so I hope BB has something big he's working on.
Wouldn't you rather keep flying the Mighty Beech for GLA? I'm sure we're opening that ORD base reeeall soon. |
Yes classes being run on all three certs. S5 probably hiring the fewest right now as all the new 175's are going to RW until around May I believe. Then there will be some 175's for the Delta op in ATL and those moving to the UALexpress op in ORD and probably some more hiring then for S5. CHQ has had several large ( 45 ish ) classes because a large number of CHQ FO's took the profer to upgrade when the large vacancy bid was put out about a months or two ago.
I believe there is another S5 class at the beginning of FEB with 20 or so FO's slotted and then two very small 6-8ish classes on the books one each in march and april. CHQ and RW have some pretty good numbers to fill between now and april. The number being banted about is 700 but that takes into account both the 175's coming on property AND attrition at the rate they saw last fall ( about 25-30 per month )... if the attrition doesnt stay up there with the slower hiring then it will probably be less. In the end all you can do is apply and see what happens.... |

Upgrade time WAS about 18 months, now for a new hire it will probably be 3 years! That is unless Brian gets about 40 more airframes on top of whats already coming in 2008! |

if you go to republicpilots.org, someone listed the S5 class forecasts. Seems like they ran lots of 170 guys through in Dec, Jan, and the Feb class, but like said earlier in this forum, only like 5 or 6 in March & April.
If you want S5, I'd suggest trying to get your stuff in as fast as possible, and be relentless on getting in touch with them. If you can't get into that Feb class, the odds will go down significantly that you'll get S5 if those numbers are true. Like 50% chance down to 10% chance. I was thinking about trying to go to S5 around March/April, but I'm not too optimistic. Like you, I really want to be in ORD. Anyone know if I got hired in March/April (and had a Chicago home address), would they let me wait for an S5 class? From everything I've seen on 170 CA upgrade times, I'd probably be on the 145 for 3+ years before I could move up to the 170 in Chicago...if I have to commute for 3 years before getting ORD, I probably wouldn't do it anyways. I'm in it for ORD, not for the 170. |

were they at the orlando event- had a couple guys from that airline at the event there.

good call, forgot to mention that! Yeah the way it stands now i think the most junior captain is 1350ish, thats november of 2006, out of 2065 numbers on the january 3rd list! Now i know there are december classes that still need to be added so lets ball park it at 2100! But there are a huge number of FOS in the 1000-1400 range that can hold upgrade and will take up most of the upgrade postions in the next few bids! But like you said most of the 2007 new hires which is 1408 to 2100 will need a couple years to get the 2500 hours for upgrade which will put them upgrading in the beginning of 2009! So yeah i would say for a new hire right now at 2200ish with current attrition of 20-30 a month 3 years to upgrade! So i guess anyone with a 2007 new hire date will see upgrades from 18 months to 30 months depending on vacancies, TT of the FOS bidding, and how many FOS will be waiting on certain equipment certificate slash bases! Me personally i was planning on waiting for a while to upgrade for QOL reasons but given recent events such as age 65 and merger talks i'm just going for the left seat as soon as possible, minus the CRJ! I am putting in a bid for all the RW bases, s5 ATL and CHQ STL, SDF, and CVG! we'll see what happens. I do find it very interesting that we got a Memo from Crew Planning today asking all FOS to update their Total time as of January 1st 2008 to find out whos going to have the times and who isn't! i think thats management code talk for "street captains" haha j/k! At least our knee jerk reaction management style is trying to plan ahead for a change, But it leads me to believe there will be a lot of upgrades in 2008! Cheers! SK |
