The problem with this this industry is that someone is always willing to do your job for less money.

mjb00123 is that someone

What facts did he not get correct? I am ashamed at the wages for the Q, especially for FO's. The FO wage is the same as the 19 pax Beech and the 74 seat Q...***??

This is what happens when you do not have a union negotiate your rate for you, Colgan decides what is "fair." If you were to go grocery shopping tomorrow and instead of a price on a loaf of bread it said "leave what you want," you would leave a lot less than what you know the bread is worth. No difference with Colgan and the Q rates...why would they want to pay more.

If, excuse me WHEN, we approve ALPA if all they do is fix the Q rates it will be worth it. The good thing is that is not all they will do.

Are the hiring mins different for the Q than the Saab? Also, anyone have any Q pics yet?

Thanks in advance.

Mins are the same however Colgan is "trying" to hire FO's for the Q with 1000 total time. Just one problem, anyone with 1000 hours will not fly a 74 seater for those rates.

I have seen a few pics of the Q when it was in Manassas...it isa great looking plane

Thats another 198 days of lining Chuck and Phil's pockets while YOU fly that thing in and out of Newark for poverty wages.

You are on first year pay, based on the Q400 at Newark, right.

It makes no logical sense to see the Q400 in line with ERJs at Liberty and just knowing that the bigger airplane produces more money for mangement yet the professionals operating it up front are on poverty wages (deeper poverty than XJT). Sick.

skidmark 02-04-2008 04:19 PM

All I know is I need me a Chicken Fried Steak and a little more sarcasm from the juice!

skidmark 02-04-2008 04:20 PM

And by the way monkey boy needs to get out of the house every so often.

You are as much as the problem as the low wages for the Q. Do YOU understand what that means. YOU and your punk attitude do as much damage to our profession as those low Q rates. Aside from Colgan, XJET, PNCL, flying in general, you are a miserable little man who attempts to sounds intelligent by speaking in hyperbole.

All anyone needs to do is read a sampling of your previous posts and you will see that every post is negative...every one! Did your daddy not love you enough? Is this why you are a punk? Keep hiding behind your annonomity like most cowards do. Continue to add to the problem, and not work on fixing it.

How can we at ExpressJet ask for a better contract when we have people under bidding us? The bottom feeders need to raise the bar before we can.

I'm not sure how you think that raising awareness about your low wages is not helping. I'd go out on a limb and say that your Colgan pride certainly isn't adding anything positive to the game.

Raising awareness is one thing, I have said for a while that our Q rates are too low and that the Saab rate could be a little higher. There is a way to go about stating this, a mature way and a immature way. I agree with your point in idea but your delivery needs work.

And where the hell do you get off saying I am not adding anything to the game. I am pushing for a union so we can fix this. When the union drive starts up again I will be working to inform pilots to get it passed. I am doing and will be doing exactly what needs to be done to make this better; for the union, will push the drive hard, and refuse to fly the Q at those wages...I am doing what needs to be done!

Roper92 02-04-2008 07:06 PM

I wasn't at ExpressJet in 2004, but I believe that Contract 2004 was made in order to raise the bar for the rest of the regional airline industry to follow. We were supposed to set the tone for the future. So far, I haven't seen any progress. N2 is right. How can we get any better? If anything, I'm afraid we're going to sink to everyone else's level in order to stay in business. Pretty sad..
