Colgan Q400 in IAH

The Q400 will be in IAH tomorrow January 30th. It will be parked in front of Atlantic Aviation. Sandwiches availabe 12-1300 in MX hangar.

The payrates on the Q400 are so bad, MC Hammer feels sorry for us.

Colgan pilots are so poor, we can't afford to pay attention.

My credit is so bad after being at Colgan, no one will take my cash.

My last check was so small, I had to shop at Old Navy. <----anyone??

I suggest that no Colgan Pilot go see that plane tomorrow. They will probably charge admission to see the airplane anyway. The airplane itself is impressive, but here at 9L for that pay rate is a slap in the face.

P.S. Feel bad for the Q400 FOs the most. It has the same payscale as teh Saab but 100 kts faster and mostly similar stage lengths. So they actually get payed less then a Saab FO to fly EWR-ALB then the Saab flying LGA-ALB

Okay,

Very funny, but I just don't get the last one about Old Navy...then again I shop at Old Navy all the time...so I guess my paycheck is small.:D

Seeing as how they are mostly going to be based at EWR, Mexico would not be possible. But i guess if they fly em out of IAH, it might not be out of the question.

flyguyniner11 01-30-2008 10:25 AM

well we have mexican ops in our new flight ops manual, so they might be planning on it

saabguy493 01-30-2008 03:54 PM

I don't think Colon's maintenance is good enough to get into Mexico. Seriously though, Colgan crews don't make enough to buy a round of beers in Mexico especially on the Q.

Any one else see the Q in EWR today? Had rampers standing all around it, checking it out I guess. Damn thing took up 2 gate spots! CAL's gotta be loving that. Gate space in EWR is not cheap.

don't apologize to me, I avoid that place like the plague................It was "new & exciting" for the first time then it was a PITA. Seriously though Mexico is very strict about Aircraft & MX etc.........I dont think they want Colgan down there, you guys don't have the best MX department............

saabguy493 01-30-2008 06:01 PM

look what we have to work with!!!

Colgan is a disgusting under-cutting disgrace to the profession.

ouch...........and if you were an expressive person, what would you say?

I feel the same way, I hate companies like that, Chautauqua, Mesa, etc. Companies that practice that Bull******* should be put out of business. I put them at the same level as those pilots who want turbine time, and offer to fly for free.

I'm pretty sure management has more of a role in the equation than you are giving them credit for (but they aren't here for you to pick on I suppose).. the pilots have no say in what margins mgmt will accept in a codeshare agreement. If "X" company will accept a 8% ROI, while "Y" company will only accept 15% ROI... the pilot compensation / performance cost becomes less of a bargaining issue. Not quite sure how my community college retarded self knew that and an O.C. superstar like yourself didn't. But hey, if it makes you feel better; bash away.

I can't remember the last time I heard the pizza delivery guy complaining about the guy down the street selling pizza for $1 less than his joint. How does he sleep at night knowing that other guys are stealing his job.. stealing his customers.. what a bunch of scabs those delivery drivers are .. sheesh.. (In that analogy it seems silly for the DD say claim the customers as "his" doesn't it?)

ADIZFlyboy 01-31-2008 06:28 AM

will the q be based out of iah at some point?

flyguyniner11 01-31-2008 06:32 AM

thats what the rumors are telling us but its probably like a year away

Apollo 01-31-2008 11:11 AM

Is Colgan still having trouble filling the right seat in the Q?

Yes because the current Colgan FO's refuse to work for those wages. Just like they will have trouble filling CA spots when they take more Q's.

EXACTLY.

But the anti-Colgan guys think that if you work there- you're immediately a SCAB.

I'm glad to see Colgan pilots sticking up for themselves.

Fokker28 01-31-2008 02:50 PM

Oh, don't worry. Horizon's management informs us that we'll soon be 'migrating to market' with our pay rates! That means a paycut of about $20/hr for me to keep flying the Megawhacker (Q400). How about we migrate you guys up to us, instead?! I'm almost positive that our CEO, with his 'car allowance' rounding out $2.5M/yr in compensation has enough money now.

Flyboy8784 01-31-2008 03:35 PM

Jeeze....they'll make anyone a Captain over at that place wont they :D

Congrats Buddy.....now get your PIC and get the hell out of there lol

In the November in-doc class (combined Saab and Q), all the folks over 30 who were asked if they wanted the Q refused it. The "Q-tips" (as we affectionately called them) were between 20 and 24.

As I sat in class with them, I realized how naive (of the industry) they were and how several of them had SNTPS (Shiny New Turbo Prop Syndrome).
