Bottom line, the general public are some ignorant souls that live for the best news/rumors and would swear that they know exactly what they are talking about. They do know what they are talking about but it's not a reality, it's in their fantasy land somewhere between their ears. It's one thing to inquire about learning more on the subject, but another to just ASSume. I think Jackie Chan said it best "I never said I didn't know english, I just let you talk that way I can see just how full of **** you are" (or something remotely close to that. Rush Hour)

Yeah, like Britney Spears' most recent trip to the hospital, that train wreck gets way too much airtime.

I would like to see someone like Mike Wallace or maybe even Andy Rooney do a piece on the reality of the airline pilots' lifestyle. Ok, so maybe Andy Rooney is too crotchety, but he used to write for the Stars and Stripes back in World War 2 and spent a lot of time with the 8th Air Force and he had a deep respect for those pilots. So hopefully he would do a good job.

I could see John Stossel possibly doing it on 20/20 in his "Give Me a Break" section.

Who's in charge of PR at ALPA? They should start looking into more creative ways of spreading their message.

They should make a show about airline training and ground schools. Preferably airlines that hire low timers, that would never be boring. It would probably keep the flying public off regional airlines though.

the training show would have great reviews....."oh, i hope joey makes it, oh no, he redscreened again" And imagine the publics face when they look in the cockpit and see joey there, flying for the "other" airline he was hired @ after busting out of the first one.

Honestly, boring TV. The lifestyle isn't glamorous, the destinations aren't exotic, you're initially paid pennies, but it's nice to think the public still has a bit of respect for you, if they didn't, would they get out of the way as you're walking in your flying V down the terminal?

except for that random clueless dude with a carry on the size of atlanta who's yapping away on his earpiece while doing circles in the middle of the aisle looking for his gate number....

Hey, and enjoy this little gem. Apparently ABC News thinks the public ought to stay away from you regional guys anyway because your "low time" and inexperience is gonna kill 'em. Luckily there was at least a little counter-point.

Me too.

Especially because when people get up and walk around the cabin with the seat belt sign on I can manipulate the control to simulate moderate turbulence without getting caught.

Ever get some idiot getting out of his seat during the taxi? Have the Flight Attendant call up and say "brake check..." It works great, and they won't be doing that again
