Skywest working shifts

For those who commute on Skywest out of Rapid City, SD, how often would I be home? Say, I'm based in SLC.

Many, many variables so it's hard to say.

Commuters usually bid 4 days trips. Once you're senior enough you could expect 4-5 days on, 4-5 days off. Hopefully you could bid show times that would allow you to commute same-day without overnighting in SLC too often.

As far as commuting from RAP, you would have to look at the number of daily flights to SLC, what kind of airplanes, and how many other commuters are doing it (they might bump you out of the JS).

You might also be able to do a 2-leg commute on UAX through Denver if you got in a bind.

If you were to commute - I guarantee you'd want to be based in a junior domicile, ie ORD...

I'm coming to think I want the junior domicile even if I otherwise wouldn't have to commute. Commuting to a good schedule might be better than sitting on reserve at home. Plus, if you're a lineholder, you can manipulate your schedule via trades and whatnot. No such luck on reserve.

I'd rather be on reserve at home than commuting to a good schedule, but different strokes for different folks. Look at the amount of cancellations ORD has had in the last 7 days. Yippee...
