Pretty easy I'm guessing...very commutable. CVG also has some of the most inefficient schedules in the system. Yes, they're commutable, but you'll also get 12 days off a month on a 78 hour line. Flying 45 minute legs around the midwest in a jet does not make an efficient schedule. At this stage in the game, almost every base at RAH is "junior" with a few exceptions...CVG is not one of them. Especially considering the last upgrade awards were awarded to people hired 1/30/07 I don't think you'd have a problem going almost anywhere.
In order to be based in CVG you would have to be hired on to the CHQ 145.

I've been based here in CVG as an FO now for about 5 months, after my initial months in GSO. Really getting in here depends on what the company needs at the time. I know about 10 new FOs just came here about a month ago, which is probably why I'm sitting at home all the time on the top of the reserve list
Here is the rundown on CVG:
Good:
1. Commutable schedules: late starts, early finishes. I just said the heck with it and moved here to northern Kentucky....not a bad place to be.
2. Easy flying....mostly small midwest airports, alot of short hops, minimal northeast shenanigans
3. Delta travel benefits...CVG is a Delta mini-hub, you can nonrev practically anywhere from here.
Bad:
1. As posted above, very inefficient schedules. Typically just make 20 hours, if that, on a 4 day. Alot of random sits in CVG, and the other day we did a 4 hour sit in TRI.
2. The easy flying comes with little pay...no delays, etc, mostly short hops, leads to rarely breaking monthly guarantee
3. Days off: The most senior capt here gets 12 days off/month...compared to a fairly junior guy in STL that gets 18/month
4. ERJ135s...the majority of CVG flying is in the 135s. If you upgrade in CVG, capt pay is much less for the 135s than the 145s. Also Delta is getting rid of them by the end of the year, so I don't know what will happen to CVG as a domicile at that point.
Hope this helps.

STL has the best trips in the entire RAH system. They are efficient, commutable, and very easy flying. Most STL FO's can swing 14-15 days off when they're junior and 17-19 when they're senior. It's where the majority of the commuters go...and because of that, the people that actually live in base get pretty good schedules since their are some really high time 1 and 2 day trips. If you were going to move to SDF, they have a variety of flying so it stays interesting, but enjoy starting at 5am on the first day and getting done at 11pm on the last day.
